Probably not the best in-law visit but I guess Shiori stood her ground and the pair ended up getting what they wanted even if they're not going to break up the way Miyako is hoping they will. Probably a long road ahead to get her to accept their relationship.

Miyako does seem to care but she's just too strict, controlling, and proud to be the kind of mom Shiori needs.

Though Shiori becoming financially independent will probably be for the best.

I'm starting to wonder what the relationship was between Shiori's grandmother and mother was... (The manga, at least through Vol 4, is silent on the issue.) Was her grandmother's dying wish atoning for her mistakes with her mother, or rescuing her from an overbearing mother?

The reviewer seems to think that the mother's behavior is repeating her own upbringing, and there's no evidence either way.

I guess a lot of the initial relationship setup was because of the stinger so having it thrown out there that it might be the only reason they were in love with each other would shake up anyone, coupled with Ichiro's own insecurities about getting the things that make them happy.

Although with all that formal attire it felt more like they were having a traditional Japanese wedding.

I thought this was an ok, but still enjoyable rom-com in the end. The sci-fi element was probably not needed in the end, but I do appreciate that it got to the relationship that much faster because of it.

"Nice and comfortable but not spectacular" is also the way I would describe the series.

Even so, I like Ichiro and Shiori as a couple and think they make a complementary fit. I also thought the series accomplish enough thematically to be satisfying overall.

I really liked this show-it gave a very comforting ambience. I do have a few problems with it though. I feel it tried to cram too much story into to few episodes. There were a few incidents that were given short shrift and most were given too little time for proper execution-it really could and should have been made at least 20 episodes and maybe more to satisfactorily tie up loose ends.
