That seems to be how it works in The Ossan Newbie Adventurer, Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party, Became Invincible, and also (more or less) in The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic. Must be like when a new fad diet makes the scene. |
would be funny if gobta ended up OP like the MCs from those anime series!
also, i am kinda surprised that the reviewer never went into full detail with the hero and demon lord meeting. i mean, this is the first time since shizu's death that rimiru ever told anyone let alone another otherworlder his japanese name!
for if i recall, he didn't do that to yuki or hinata or the kids!
per the reviewer:

We even see Elmesia put this into practice immediately by questioning what Rimuru would do if Diablo goes rogue. |
that is definitely have to be addressed next week considering that this is the first time he have even heard the term primordial demons before and for some reason, raphael did not give rimiru an answer or notice like she usually does.
makes me wondering if she really has a hand in summoning noir in the first place. and if thats the case, its possible that her end goal being rimiru as the master of all seven primordial demons!

Well, people were calling out how Gazel would be the most convenient person to solve their financial problem (with some assist0 but at least he got to scold Rimuru for rushing into things too quickly even if somebody else orchestrated the issue in the first place. Rimuru really can be a bit too gung-ho and casual for his own good.
I love Elmesia straight up flexing her experience level (to the point where Gazel is still a child in her eyes because she remembers him and his grandfather), her wealth, and her intimidating aura. Can she appear more, please? And just like Rimuru just casually treats a Primordial Demon like a dog, Elmesia just casually enters into negotiations into joining with the Jura Tempest Federation. Also, more meetings!
Gobta and Ranga being able to fuse is cool and all...but it was a bad match-up. One that landed them in more trouble afterwards from Milim and Hakurou and some rigorous dungeon-training. Will Gobta at least still get that fishing rod?
I'm glad Masayuki and Rimuru were able to finally talk and get along as fellow Japanese Isekai dudes. It's obvious Masayuki just needs a real friend and someone he can be level with, even if he's slowly turning into yet another Rimuru hype-man.
They had to know ahead of time that Masayuki would become a Beta Tester when they cast Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, right? This character is too self-aware.
Time to finally show off this dungeon!

It feels like for Masayuki Tempest can become sort of safe space. Ruled by understanding Rimuru and safe from those pesky hero followers expectations. Little does he know....

Quote: | Cards on the table: This might be my favorite tournament arc in a long time. Why? Because 90% of it is done in a single episode. Now, to be clear, I don't hate tournament arcs in general. I enjoyed them a ton when I was younger. But over the years, I've come to enjoy them less and less. More often than not, they feel like an excuse to show off the martial prowess of side characters at the expense of any kind of meaningful plot progression. |
I'll go beyond that: tournament arcs are a lazy way to force superpower duels under completely manufactured circumstances. They lack the thrill or the stakes of encounters happening organically when seeking a different goal, and their rulesets more often than not impede more characters from suddenly getting in or out of the fight.
Not like I'm a fan of superpower duels in general, after the 200th one they all feel the same and no amount of sakuga can make up for that. The only ones I actively enjoy are the ones from that series that makes them work in the absurd and the grotesque, full of moon logic and based on real world fake facts.
So this is the only tournament arc I've actually liked in the last couple decades, basically because it prioritized comedy above all else, was quick and swift, and showcasing cool superpower fights wasn't much of the menu.

It was cool watching the dungeon finally in action! And of course Ramiris totally goofed some of it. And took bribes.
Gaiye was probably the most unlikable character we've had a in while. Like, he basically attacked Mjollmile fully expecting he might kill him. Felt a little out of place with the vibe of the arc but I guess watching a Dryad kick his butt was satisfying.
You know Eren is the daughter of a politician because she's basically in charge and knows how effective a good bribe can be. But it was nice to see her and the guys again.

Rimuru needs to assign someone to watch over Ramiris and make sure she doesn't do that sort of thing. I know she has lieutenants already, but they are a bit too high up the ladder to be given such a basic chore.

I guess there was no fitting way to end the season than one last meeting with all the characters who showed up this cour. At least it was in a gazebo with a train set.
Honestly I feel like this season was bogged down by the clunky and dull meetings of the first cour and how forced the conflict of the first half was, the fact that Tempest is now so OP that coming up with contrived fights seems pointless, and that the second half was much stronger for just leaning into what the show is good at which is fun, SoL, hijinks with some light worldbuilding and quirky characters.
This is definitely not a show that can rely on dialogue or characters to sell episode-long conversations when a good portion of the cast are just Rimuru's yes-men. This isn't Monogatari.
At least they managed to figure out Yuuki, even if they're still feeling him out and aren't completely aware of the Rozzo problem. But it's just hard for me to imagine any genuine stakes for the show at this point since they haven't really had any since the first half of season 2.

The big bad organisation is very intimidating. They've failed spectacularly three times already.

I mean, they've been trying to finesse it because they've been underestimating how powerful / connected Rimuru and his followers are. You don't kill a fly with a bazooka, after all. Now, though, they have a better idea of what they are are dealing with. The danger is what they will do when the gloves come fully off.
I was really glad they confirmed that Rimuru knows Yuuki is the villain. Rimuru needs to be foolish--it's really his only real character flaw, but it's a goodie--but he definitely shouldn't be stupid. And Yuuki should be aware that Rimuru probably knows he's the bad guy. I think Yuuki expected Hinata to kill Rimuru or at worst die herself. However, having both of them survive after Yuuki gave her vital intel about Rimuru that basically only he knew more or less gives up the game entirely. I think the two happy faces Rimuru and Yuuki now present to each other are equally false.

speaking of, i dont know if what happened but the discrapencies with the jp version and eng dub will have people confused. for example, in the jp dub rimuru didn't even know what a primordial demon was until elmesia said it. BUT in the eng dub, rimuru said "how does she know that?" giving the impression that he already knows what type of demon diablo/noir is!
dont know if it was accidential or intentional on the english side for this definitely makes zero sense!
