Ichiko's story was presented well, with a hint of sadness but not overly tragic. The detail about how new vampires are created is an interesting twist on the classic method. We also find out a bit about Mother, who of course would be voiced by Inoue Kikuko.

The writers proved that Fū's story was not a fluke, that they can pivot from comedy to character drama and back, and present both effectively.

At this point, I hope Masaki gets to reciprocate her feelings towards Live after everything Live (as well as the other vampires) has done for her. I actually do like they gave Masaki a pep talk on how all of them are in this together while having chili peppers stuck up in their noses. Laughing

Seeing Masaki spiral harder and harder into that rabbit hole shows us how dedicated she is to making MayoPan a success and keeping her new-found companions—but also how she eventually fractured her relationship with her old ones. She's convinced she must shoulder everything—and that she alone has the formula for success, only to grow more miserable and insecure when that fails.
Up until now, Masaki has not acknowledged her fault in being kicked out of Hype Sisters, and mostly tried to avoid thinking about them. This time, she finally looked back at their past videos and see what made them work, and it wasn't necessarily her self-proclaimed genius. While she's still far from the point where she can speak to them again, she took a big step here in how she treats her current group MayoPan, first by apologizing for her mistakes, then resolving to work together with them instead of trying to do everything by herself.

It's not every day you get Milkshake Duck'd by a cartoon character but that's part of the Youtuber life too.

There's a typo in the link URL causing it to lead to a page that doesn't exist, the URL should be changed to

Now that I think about it, having Youtubers congregate together and be more crazy than the vampire Youtubers themselves is a funny dichotomy. Laughing

You know the comedy worked where a lot of the jokes land and are well-paced. Heck, we even have Masaki punching a gothic chick for sabotaging stage and in turn helping her vampire group which shows her selflessness. Hopefully, her actions doesn't get misconstrued since a garlic drugged-up Yuki is taking video of her, and hopefully she doesn't upload it online.

The punching-out of the goth chick made me laugh quite hard, but I appreciated the deeper reading that can be made: the show opens with Masaki succumbing to rage and insecurity and punching one of her friends during a stream, effectively killing her career, but look how far she has come! I thought it was nice that my first thought when she punched the goth girl was, "Well, she does have a mean right hook..."

Moreover, I appreciate that, at least in this episode, the script didn't bludgeon the audience over the head and make explicit in dialogue everything that was told nonverbally. I have a growing semse of dread that exact thing will happen in coming episodes, but whatever. I'm enjoying the show so far, and that what's matters.

So like, what happened to the reviews? It's been two weeks since the last one, and now I'm noticing it's been removed from the daily streaming list.

Did the reviewer lose interest?

I will say though the past few episodes are as wonderful as before thanks to strong characterization and solid comedic antics. Masaki is definitely going to get her redemption arc. And once we get to know about Yuki and her other activity, the more hilarious it becomes.

It's a real shame this is not getting much attention because I feel this is doing everything that P.A. Works' other original Narenare is flailing badly in terms of actually knowing what to do with the premise and characters so far.

If I had to guess, it's probably this.

Whelp, that answers my question. Thanks.

As for the Narenare comparison, I feel like P.A. really screwed themselves over by spreading themselves thin over three titles this season. Considering this seems to be the only one of the three with any real effort put into its writing. We definitely are going to get the redemption arc for these last few episodes, especially since she's clearly buried the hatchet with her former group.

If there's one thing that's bothering me, it's that the reveal to the masses that MayoPan and Misaki are connected could have been played a little better. It feels odd that only Misaki's getting the hate and not the group as a whole when it comes out. That might change next episode, but it's still odd that they didn't include a "MayoPan officially sucks now" comment in there.

Hey everyone, just wanted to give a quick update that I will be writing up the last episode of Mayonaka Punch. It'll be up in due time, it's just... hard.

Thank you so much for completing the review series of this show. I really appreciate it.

I want to again say that my heart goes out to Nick's friends and family, whose pain I can't imagine. Many, including myself, were touched by his writing, but there is simply no comparison. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

MayoPan was also my favorite show of the season. I was mildly surprised none of the reviewers other than Nick seemed to think so, but that's okay. His reviews brought me to the show, and that's what I genuinely appreciate.

Thank you!

Thank you for stepping up to review the last episode, hard as it must have been.

Just Live tasted something yummy before falling asleep and dreaming about it for 20 years.

If you want to make it even more unsentimental, the question becomes was Misaki's blood actually that yummy, or, because Live was on the verge of dying, was it a case of hunger is the best spice?

I also thought it was sweet that despite how scary Mother was portrayed, she was actually kind and benevolent. That she seems to have a soft spot for Misaki, and that the whole 1 million subs deadline might have been part of a plan to get Misaki back in front of the camera from the very start.

Thanks for finishing the series review.

The final episode felt hectic and a bit rushed, but overall the series was a fun look at YouTubers and what goes on behind the scenes, not just in regards to video creation, but also the struggles of fame. It also showed how comments on the internet, limited to emotionless text on a screen, may not reflect how those who wrote them actually feel.

I wasn't actively following the reviews for this, but will probably go back and read them, now that I realize Nick was their author. Just to join the chorus -- thanks for finishing them, Caitlin.

On MP itself: maybe it shouldn't be, but it's odd to me that the show was so unevenly effective. Did the Episode 3 gut-punch (EDIT: oh, I guess I mean Episode 4) have a different director from the prank video finale?

It just occurred to me today that we never found out why Misaki punched her friend on stream prior to episode 1, did we? Sure Misaki is prone to punching, but maybe the other girl deserved it.
