Mana is arguably one of the biggest Mary Sue characters I have ever seen.

I wouldn't mind if they turned it into another adult precure anime. DokiDoki has never been out of my top 3 precure anime since it aired.

I think the term is terrible, but the logic is this: multiple characters are defined by how much they love Mana and how great they think she is (poor Rikka being an example). If a character like Makoto doesn't like her, they will by the mid-point of the show. As student council president she's depicted as likewise universally loved and respected while doing most things around school with little effort. She has no significant character flaws or hurdles to overcome (the attempts to make her come across as "selfish" are muddled and ultimately viewed positively). She also effortlessly beats the final boss on her own after getting a powerup that nobody else on the team get. |

Regina means Queen in Spanish too- such a cool name for an epic feminine hero. |

The novel isn’t set 10 years later. When they’re talking about it being 10 years later, they’re referring to the novel being released 10 years after the anime ended. The source articles clearly state it’s set after the finale of the anime, where the characters are still in middle school as they were for the whole of the anime.

I think Mana doing Mana things is the whole point of the show, and that's actually the best part of it. We're literally arguing about a cartoon targeted for children where they beat up the baddies with the power of love, like literally (and with some butt-kicking for goodness as well, of course). She's supposed to be a positive role model for little girls. Granted, I'm biased as hell, being one of the few people on the internet who actually liked Doki quite a lot.

I remember all the disappointment when she wasn't the 5th Cure back in the day. I guess they can finally fix that error with this. |

Honestly, Doki is a weird show, not only by Precure standards but by magical girl standards in general. I love it so much though. It's a wild ride that's not for everyone, but those who can't help but like Mana will have a ton of fun. I unironically have it as my third favorite season with Mana herself as my personal favorite Cure despite the series being one of the jankier seasons. |

I was hoping so too, but the format of the novel got mentioned in public by the author and that just isn't feasible. I'll just post the link and the important bits of it in spoilers. https://x.com/staffwhy/status/1834867980817092785 spoiler[Basically, it contains episodes 50-81 for a theoretical Doki Doki 2 broadcast, though it skips episodes in the middle as they haven't been written (probably just theoretical filler stuff).] |
