That's an awesome b'day present indeed. Wow, I would have loved to have that stand.

Anyway, I'm glad the Chevalier got a good review. I received the 2nd volume and the artbox a little while back. ADV is really going all out with the slipcovers, not to mention the box. Very pretty. I've yet to watch volume 2, but now I have an idea what to expect thanks to Miss Bamboo. Wink Fortunately I never made the wrong assumption about her gender. ADV's releases of D'Eon and Kurau pack a nice one-two punch this year. Both series have been nothing short of excellent thus far, although I slightly prefer Chevalier right now.

EDIT: Then, of course, there's Ah! My Goddess, 009-1, and let's not forget Air. What a great year this is shaping up to be. Very Happy

I think your a little too hard on Princess Princess, though I can defonatly see why. When I first went into it, I thought it was going to be a typical shounen-ai story only without actually progressing any boyxboy relationships.
It defonatly has alot of homosexual undertones, but its certainly not a BL title. Heck, the princesses are all spoiler[straight, they talk about girls and stuff, and one of them at least has a girlfriend.]

And the boys on campus DO mind that their pretty princesses all have penises, in one scene when they were spoiler[going to change into their princess outifts, the other boys were like, "Dont change in here!" to which the princess responds "..Why? We are both guys..." And the other guys explain that they "dont want to have their fantasy of them being girls shattered"]
So basicly, the entire campus is just living in denial. Wink

And anyways, the series DOES get alot less fluffly later on. It's got it's moments of depth, it's pretty much a slice of life kind of flick, with the princessess helping each other out with familey problems and stuff.

But I understand how its not everyones cup of tea. If you cant get past the fact thats it's essentially a show about boys being forced to crossdress, then you probably wont like it.

I, however, quite enjoyed it, and will probably be buying it as it comes out. ^^

I am glad to see someone else loves the whole teen angst. You are not alone. Peach Girl seems like a title I need to see. I am not quite sure about the Air Gear though. The premise just seems so ridiculous. But I also felt like the premise of Initial D was ridiculous and it kept me glued to the TV. I'll Netflix it disc one. It seems like the kind of show where if you like the first disc you'll like it all.

Personally I like Princess Princess, it's a kind of set up that could have taken it's self to seriously but instead ends up being fairly light hearted and funny. It's got the right amount of wacky going on without going over the top on it also. It is not something to having deeper thoughts on how the whole thing works though.

Not only can you get the skinny on what some of the industry reps had to say about new releases, but you can also watch me ham it up on camera, and finally stop assuming that I'm a male. Because I'm not. Yeesh.

It's because of the "Dong" surname. Too many male pornstars like to use it. Rolling Eyes Laughing

or because it's only been 5 years since I graduated from high school,

Five years, and you're already working towards a Masters? Wow, you must have gotten some good SAT scores.

1. PhD. 2. College only takes 4 years, so being in a graduate program your 5th year is not uncommon. 3. SAT scores are only relevant for undergrad. ; )

What do you think about both their shelves? Cool, really cool, or hella cool?

Yeah it's impressive to a collection of that size in the 2nd picture, but having that much can be considered an overkill, but that's just me.

I have to admit that I liked Princess Princess. I watched it in fansubs last year and now I'm buying the DVDs because I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yes, the basic premise is completely stupid, and yes, some people may find the end credit sequence disturbing, and the rest may find it somewhat misleading, but so?

At the end, it's basically a farce - some of the incidental music screams 'comedy' - but it has an underlying theme of the importance of having good friends and how you can help each other out.

Why oh why did you have to mention Jordy? Why? Now I have "Alison" stuck in my head again. I hate that song...Did you have a French teacher in high school that tortured you with it too, Bamboo?

Peach Girl as Shelfworthy. Interesting. I personally hated the first 15 episodes, but absolutely loved the rest of the series. Once I pick up the series (I'm waiting for Best Buy to clearance the starter kit...I'm getting quite a collection of random anime purses: 3 from Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, 1 Kodocha, and soon the Peach Girl one) I'm going to have to do a rewatch to see if I can like the early part of the series better now that I know where it's going.

For a second I thought about speaking on behalf of Bleach, but then remembered that I didn't find the first 15 or so episodes terribly compelling either. It had its moments, but it didn't come together until after that. But a review of DVD #4? I thought that wasn't getting released until later this month. I guess some people in-the-know have early access.

If I was unsure of whether or not Bamboo was a lady, I would have definitely known otherwise by the end of this Shelf Life. Admitting a love for Peach Girl is something none of my male otaku friends have done...that's something shoujo girly girls like myself admit! I love the teen angst too!! It was a fun series.

And man were those shelves impressive...I loved the Mononoke statues on the second shelf. Awesome.
