I love Yun Kouga, but do we need another 'bishie' filled Gundam series?

You know, one thing I love about anime is how it can depict characters of both sexes as beautiful, so I never could understand this issue. Hollywood gets away with choosing the best looking actors for their live action films, but in anime, mecha pilots have to be butt-ugly, lest the project is doomed to failure?

Let me atleast get back to my core argument:

I don't trust $unrise & friends to do a decent war-themed show without throwing SOME wierd crap into the scheme. It's not about substance anymore. It's about throwing around popular names, viral marketing, and mega-mergers.

People are more critical and skeptical now. They don't want crap like that heeped on them without being made sure that it won't turn into the ill-titled "$unrise Train Wreck."

The age of "flying blindly into something" is dead, my friend. New holes get ripped into those who are unable to deliver past the teasers.

Yeah, why can't we go back to the 90's attitude of making a fifteen year old girl look like a twenty-something supermodel (looking at you Gundam Wing)? Ah, the good ol' days.... Anime smallmouth

And HD! Is nice...

With Yun Kouga it's more like twenty-something year old guys looking like 15 year old girls!

Though, you know, while Gundam Wing was kind of fun to watch, I was never too fond of its character designs. I don't know about you, but to me, the girls on Gundam Wing all looked like cross-dressing men. Sad

As fossil fuels became exhausted, humanity found a new energy source to change their situation: A large-scale solar power system with three enormous orbiting elevators. However, only a few large countries and their allies reaped the benefits.

Three superpowers had ownership of the three orbiting elevators: The Union, based in the United States Of America, The People's Reform League, made up of China, Russia, and India, and Europe's AEU. The superpowers continue playing a large zero-sum game for their own dignity and respective prosperity. Even though it is the 24th century, humanity has yet to become one.

In this world where war has no end, a private militia appears advocating the eradication of war through force. Each possessing a mobile suit Gundam, they are Celestial Being. The armed intervention by the Gundams against all acts of war begins."

Interesting!

Oh God no......Please don't let it be another Gundam Wing team. What's wrong with having a female in the ranks? I like females....they make the world a much better place.....really....I like anime females a lot, so come on....at least one female lead. I hate anime with all male leads (Saint Beast anyone.....can't get gayer then that)

That not to say that there won't be some female that do become lead characters later on. I am sure there will be plenty of females for you to look, no need to get crazy.

Also I am excited about this stealth unit along with what might appear to be a sniper gundam.

Lastly just because you have all male pilots doesn't mean its gay.

P.S. Gundam Wing was awesome.

I love how people keep beating on Sunrise for Viral Marketing while companies like Kyoto Animation and their current run with Lucky Star is like ten times worse. People oughta start calling them K¥oAni instead at this rate, because they've all but surpassed Sunrise in terms of pushing products.

We have heard all this $unrise Train Wreck crap many times, and I say it's time to give them another chance, like people are giving Lucky Star a chance despite its massive cross-promotion of Kadokawa Shoten products and huge shortcomings of plot. If one can get by with blatant commercialism, why not the other?

Testerchoice has it down perfectly. This whole Train Wreck meme is based off of one or two bad showings by Sunrise in Gundam Seed Destiny and Mai Otome. They have proven in the past that they can more than deliver the goods and I think we should believe they can do it again, just like people believed Lucky Star could do it through all of its troublesome beginnings and commercial tie-ins. It's really not all that different a case.

I know Gundam Wing was cool. (The Epyon is my favorite Gundam of them all). I never said it was gay (all male protagonists had a relationship with a female (Heero with Relena, Duo with Hilde, Trowa with Catherine, Quatre with Dorothy (sort of), Wu Fei with Sally and Zechs with Noin). I just don't like all male/all female teams unless for a really good reason (Simoun had a reason.....a made up reason, but still a reason). And I know there will be females for all, but what I want is a female main character with her own Gundam.

BTW: Where is GM-004?

Replace "terrorists" with "military" and you've got another f'n Shinn Asuka Mad. But being 24, that's like, generations beyond the usual angsty teen pilot. That Allelujah Paptism guy has a cool design, but what's wth the name, is that like a play on words "Hallelujah Baptism" or something?

I also notice there's no mention of a GN-004 Gundam pilot. So I'm guessing we've probably got another Gundam-jack scenario. Maybe it's taken by the villain? Let's just hope it's not another guy in a Char mask (though 2 of the last three I saw weren't so bad).

Is it just me or do you think were going to see a lot of Iraq War commentary in this series? I just have this feeling everything is going to be a metaphor for the war, although I am excited to learn about the new Gundams.

I want to be the first to mention that Alleujah Paptism is SUCH a Gundam name. And not just a Gundam name, but a Yoshiyuki Tomino style "How the hell did he come up with that one name". Feeling nostaligic. Anime cry

What was posted on AoD actually has his name as "Allelujah Baptism." It's going to be really hard to take this guy seriously. It's just such a ridiculous name. Laughing

Here is what was posted on AoD:

Quote:
GN-001 GUNDAM EXIA (Feddie colors)
Its centrally-placed GN drive produces near-infinite energy and incredible power output. Incorporates a variety of high technology.
Pilot: Setsuna (Setsuna F Seiei), 16
Fated boy soldier born amidst the civil wars of Kyrgistan. Dislikes close contact with others, and is the "cool" type who tends to hide his feelings.

GN-002 GUNDAM DYNAMES (Green)
Mounts a GN drive like the other Gundams. Designed for ranged combat, it carries a GN sniper rifle as well as various mission-specific guns.
Pilot: Lockon (Lockon Stratos), 24
His family killed in a terrorist attack, he decided te join Solestal Being. The oldest pilot and the team leader.

GN-003 GUNDAM KYRIOS (Orange fake-Zeta)
Transforms. General-purpose type.
Pilot: Allelujah (Allelujah Baptism), 19
Spent his boyhood in the PRL. The quiet, gentle type.

GN-005 GUNDAM VIRTUE (GP-002 amirite)
Heavily-armored, and carries a GN Bazooka and GN Cannon. Can manifest a "GN Field" in addition to its armor.
Pilot: Tieria (Tieria Arde), ??
A strikingly beautiful boy whose birthplace, nationality, and history are all a mystery. In his soft words, you can feel something chilling hidden.

I hadn't noticed that. Maybe they'll be a tad more original and it was destroyed in testing or something.
