Great...Tokyopop is signed up to rape another .hack manga, as well as New Petshop of Horrors and a Shin Megami Tensei work that I've never heard of before. Just great.
Here's my wish list for Tokyopop: 1. Fire everybody who didn't work on King of Bandit Jing or Keroro Gunsou. ...And that's pretty much it. I wanna see somebody who actually bothers to do their research and doesn't get the urge to drop f-bombs every other sentence. Kakureshi Kindan no Seiiki is "Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground", dammit. If they had just fixed this, I might have been willing to forgive them...but two years later their blatant ignorance still stains the pages of .hack//AI-BUSTER. There will continue to be war between us. |

Well that's great how are you going to read now that you don't have a brain.
Yeah the translations for AI Buster book were questionable at least but Another Birth has been better, hopefully we'll get more hack material sooner rather later. Because if they don't try to do it now when there are games still coming out there just might not be the same interest in some of side stories. |

Really good point. This title is so borderline, but let's get real, it is considered a hentai. Though genitalia isn't actually shown, it still represents the nature of what a hentai is. Not to mention it's one of the most popular sex manga series in Japan

I wonder what the hell the foot-dragging's about. Tokyopop took a full year each to first fix "Orca" and then "Zawan Shin", and "Hidden Forbidden Sacred" is still literally on the books. By contrast, there must've been some righteous finger-breaking at Viz after "Ishvar" slipped into a volume of Fullmetal Alchemist: it was back to the proper "Ishbal" next volume. (In case you can't tell, I'm a consistency fiend.)

The spelling with the "v" comes from Japan, specifically the original manga. The spelling with the "b" just happened to be the English dubbing name for the animation, not because it's more proper. "Hentai" to begin with is a term that doesn't exist in Japanese at all, but it effectively serves as a bastardization of "ero manga" - manga sold and marketed as porn. With a little yellow circle on the spine indicating it can't be sold to minors, as it is explicit material. Whatever the actual content of Futari H, it is NOT sold and marketed as porn. It is a seinen manga, and sold in the normal section of the bookstore. You can hate on the book all you like - I'd never read the thing either - but that does not change the classification of the series. |

The series is in progress right now. Obviously other people are part of the adaptation process, but I've done what I consider to be a thorough job of making sure names, etc., are correct, since I know that's a concern for most folks when it comes to something like .hack that does have a set list of spellings, terms, and so on. |

Bummer. A Persona adaptation would be welcome. But I am curious to find out what this is. (I wonder why they'd bring over an obscure older title over an adaptation of a game that was actually released domestically, anyway?) |

HA! Glad to see I'm not the only one who ranted about this DJ Milky crap on their blog. (My rant here.) Though I was a bit late to the rant party. In the newest Previews Diamond Distributors catalog for comic shops, D.J. Milky / Stu Levy has a new book coming out from his company Tokyopop. This time it's a text novel called Karma Club. Now aside from the Levy/Milky overhyped crap, I have bought some good American works from Tokyopop. Nevermind some volumes of manhwa Priest. I don't have any problem with Tokyopop publishing these books. I'm actually quite glad to see US and other non-Japanese creators getting published. I just get pissed off that Tokyopop feels they need to slap the label 'manga' on the books to get them to sell. |

I never expected to see Futari Ecchi licensed. I already own the original version up to v.32, but I will buy it in English just to support it being licensed.
What's next, an English version of Comic Tenma? |
