I hope this means that Geneon has the domestic rights to the first film.

I'm with you -- I'm hoping there'll be an announcement about an R1 release in the near future. (In my ideal world, it would include the live-action short as a special feature. And how about a translation of Oshii's original novel, for good measure?)

EDIT: Oh, from what I can tell, Hiroaki Yuasa didn't direct "Midnight Pigskin Wolf" -- that was Takatsugu Naitoh. Yuasa directed a film called Blink ("Mabataki"). I think the confusion came about because both films were just released on the same DVD.
