I don't know, about this idea....just don't see how it could be any good since spoiler[Higurashi has such an odd format where the characters constantly die and are suddenly resurrected again for a new scenario later] They'd have to do only one of the chapters and it would kind of diminish the impact without the others.

I agree that it'll be quite a challenge, but at the same time, I'm very excited to see how they handle it.

Also, I've noticed Ryukishi07 is pretty hands on (supposedly he wrote the anime only scenario Yakusamashi-hen and the PS2-only scenarios) so I think if he's utilized in the same way for the film, it could work out very well!

whooow Confused . that 's gonan be totally wierd... even by looking on trailer it's quite bad (not a fan of live actions). They are just not kids and whole thing loses it's sence! Now it becomes like an old-style murder case x 5 times.

This movie has no Trailer yet...

The Trailer posted here by TSC was something COMPLETELY different from THIS Movie that's coming out in 2008.

He's also written all the manga exclusive arcs, such as Onisarashi, Yoigoshi, and Utsutsukowashi.

As for the live action, well, there's NO way it'll be worse than the TMA Porno, Higurashi Ga Naku Koro Ni.

I assume they'll cover Onikakushi only, since it's a great introduction and showcases the series' more scary moments. Since there's no emphasis on Rika from what I can tell, this'll probably just be a "question" movie. Assuming it does well, there could be more movies. I don't expect them to cover them all. Maybe Onikakushi mixed with Watanagashi, Tatarigoroshi with a bit of Himatsubushi, Meakashi mixed with Tsumihoroboshi, then Minagoroshi and Matsuribayashi, the complete explanation.

The actors look good too. I'm looking forward to it.

This'll be odd, that's for sure. They'll either stick to one arc, a blending of certain elements from different arcs, or something new entirely (something more straight forward hopefully?). As long as it's competently directed, it might be good.

I disagree about Onikakushi, though. It was a horrid intro (at least in the anime) as it showcased the poor direction of the show (starting on a sour note only makes the cute moments awkward and out of place and the characters appear to act irrationally since you have no knowledge of them thanks to lack of even an episode of proper setup that even the other arcs have). I might've actually liked this show more had that started with the more coherent Watanagashi arc, or something. I've only seen those two, and the released episodes of Kai, and Onikakushi's the worst of the bunch in terms of badly done storytelling. Confused Perhaps the other versions are told better.

There is no trailer out.

The trailer that was posted earlier in this thread is for the Adult Video Version of Higurashi (yes, a Higurashi porno). Hence the really amateur and low budget look. The AV is done by the people who did Suzumiya HAHIRU no Yuuutsu (TMA, I think).

The same company has also produced Maria-sama ga Miteiru, Kore ga Watashi no Goshujin-sama, and the infamous Faith/stay knight, plus various cosplaying footages. They even had an audition for cosplayers willing to take parts in adult films.
