What is Funi doing? Well, unlike the active Sentai, the last Funi licensing announcement was at the end of July when they rocked the world with the announcement that they had snagged ...

... Heaven's Lost Property the Movie: The Angeloid of Clockwork.

*snicker*

Aw, I'm just kiddin' ya, Funi - you guys are still awesome, but I can't help trying to fan the flames of some distrib rivalry here.

In other words, waiting for more fanservice shows.

I do love Funimation, but they seem to mostly favor shows that contain high amounts of fanservice.

Well, last season was more like 3 and half, if you count the delay cast for No. 6. So they may have more, they may not. It's hard to tell.

I did forget about it, but at some point you have to stop calling something a simulcast. I really have to wonder if there is any station in Japan not broadcasting the episodes until about 3 weeks after they air.

Likewise, I would be uncomfortable classifying CR's streaming of The Idolm@aster as a simulcast.

What days do these 3 series run (US time wise) I wonder if it plays into the reasoning behind why they are switching their weekly video updates from their traditional Thursday to Friday.

Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!!: 1 AM on Sunday, October 2
Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere: 2:58 AM on Sunday, October 2
Persona 4 the Animation: 1:30 AM on Friday, October 7

Keep in mind that the U.S. time is about half a day ahead, so those actually air on the previous day from that perspective.

You actually did look at what this Horizon show is about right? Fanservice and more fanservice. I don't mind if FUNi goes after the Sora no Otoshimono or Freezing title as long as they back it up with a Shiki, Tatami Galaxy (PLEEEEEEASE), or even Rideback. They also have a super duper heavy backlog of titles yet to be released.

Sentai has actually been the one more focused on fanservice. But from them I also get my cute SoL/moe shows like Taisho Baseball Girls and Living For the Day After Tomorrow.

Not a definite purchase like Persona 4, but sounds interesting, I'll check it out and buy it if it works.

Also, FUNimation is hardly alone in having plenty of fanservice shows, Sentai and Media Blasters have just as many. Besides, in terms of video release (which I'm more interested in than streaming rights), they've got Steins;Gate and Deadman Wonderland headed for next year, which is my most eagerly awaited release besides Madoka and Nichijou.

Funimation waiting for more licenses? How about go farther with D.Grayman, One Piece, or Sgt. Frog I'd buy One piece And Dgrayman day one.

Maybe Funi is waiting to announce something at NYCC in two weeks.

Also, a release date for Princess Jellyfish would be nice, Funi! That is a quality show I am dying to preorder and get some quality bonuses.

Re: this show... it wasn't really on my radar as it looks pretty leaning towards ecchi with the character designs.

I'm somewhat surprised Sentai got this; I was ready to peg Bandai on getting first dibs on this considering it is a Sunrise title.

I did, all I saw was this:

Quote:
Genres: fantasy
Themes: school, war

And in regards to Sentai, here are some recent things they licensed from Summer to Fall (if I missed anything feel free to add to the list):

Coicent
Croisée in a Foreign Labyrinth
ef: a tale of melodies
ef: a tale of memories
ICE
Heaven's Memo Pad
Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere
Majikoi - Oh! Samurai Girls!
No. 6
Persona 4 The Animation
Rozen Maiden: Ouverture
Ro-Kyu-Bu!
Saiyuki Gaiden

I only see 2-3 fanservy titles there.

Now lets look at Funimation's recent licensing from Summer to Fall (again, if I missed anything feel free to add to the list):

Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts 2
Cat Planet Cuties
Deadman Wonderland
Heaven's Lost Property movie
Steins;Gate
We Without Wings - Under the Innocent Sky
Yamada’s First Time

4 of those titles are fanservice. And note that Sentai's list is longer.

You were saying?

Watch the trailer of Horizon.

There was also the other Samurai Girls series that was licensed this year, and I'm pretty sure FUNi announced Princess Jellyfish/Kuragehime this year.

You can also add Infinite Stratos and Demon King Daimao to Sentai's list.

Those were announced during the Spring. I was talking about most recent things they licensed (June-September). Wink

Infinite Stratos was licensed in January. And Demon King Daimao was picked up for AN streaming last year, and then for home release March 2011.
