Agreed. Corgis rule and Ein is the coolest corgi ever, ever, ever. I'd like to give a shot out to Mini-Shiba from Eden of the East too. Love that dog.

Glad to see Gin on the list. Dog deserves credit, especially due to the lack of dog-focused stories on anime and manga. Even Dog of Flanders, the dog shared its spotlight with the human Nello. In Gin and its related series, dogs are the main characters through and through. Humans show up sometimes and admittedly play important roles, but that's about it.

Densuke would be at or near the top of my list as well. He's unbelievably cute, brave, loyal, loving, and funny. If you look at Gia's list, all the ones she includes are from licensed properties or old shows that are out-of-print. I suspect the ANN editorial policies militate against her listing items from unlicensed shows like Dennou Coil.

Menchi would definitely top my list of anime dogs.

As to the poll, I don't know if I'm really excited about anything that much but I chose Last Exile: The Silver Wing because I enjoyed the first series.

Ginga Nagareboshi Gin/Ginga Densetsu Weed are pretty much Fist of the North Star with dogs.

They totally deserve the top spot, and the recognition.
