If you are receiving the "Invalid_session" error this could be due to and caused by a number of circumstances.

Please try the following things:

1) If you're an AOL user please use a non-aol browser to visit these forums, use MS Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla, Opera or something else... anything but the AOL browser. Make sure that you do not use AOL's proxy servers in whatever browser you chose.

2) If you are not an AOL user please try deleting your cookies. Please note that if you delete all your cookies you will lose numerous settings for other websites such as "Auto Login" and other features. Unfortunately you may have to regularly delete your cookies to deal with this problem.

To delete your cookies:
In Internet Explorer:
    click on tools
    click on Internet Options
click on Delete Cookie (on the "general" page), this deletes all your cookies

To selectively delete only your ANN cookies for IE, browse to your temporary Internet File folder (usually C:\Documents and Settings\{profile name}\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files)

In either Mozilla 1.1 or Netscape 7
    choose Tools
    Cookie Manager
    Manage Stored Cookies.

In Netscape 6.2,
    choose Edit
    Preferences
select Cookies under the Privacy & Security categoryThis allows you to selectively delete your cookies.
click the View Stored Cookies button to open the Cookie Manager. This allows you to selectively delete your cookies.

In Opera
    Click files
    Click on Delete Private Data
Click on Manage Cookies. This will allow you to delete individual cookies.

Safari 1.0 (MacOS X)
    Choose Preferences from Safari menu
    Select Security icon
    Press Show Cookies button
Select the Cookies to be deleted from the list
    Press Delete button

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 (MacOS X)
    Choose Preferences from Explorer menu
    Select Receiving Files options
    Select Cookies
Select the Cookies to be deleted from the list
    Press Delete button

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 (MacOS 9)
    Choose Preferences from Edit menu
    Select Receiving Files options
    Select Cookies
Select the Cookies to be deleted from the list
    Press Delete button

3) If you're using some sort of personal firewall, try disabling it. If disabling the firewall fixes the problem it means you will have to play with the firewall's settings to get it to let you post to ANN.

For more on this issue, read the PHPBB2 Knowledgebase here.

Also worth mentionning.

This can happen when you are looking at a page for a long long time before you reply (for example you load the page and then leave your desk for an hour, come back, read the messages and hit reply), or take a long time constructing a post.

The way to avoid this is to refresh the page before replying -OR- copy the text of your reply to the clipboard, press back to get to the page you are replying to, refresh, reply, then post your message.
