I noticed that "Call for Help" is missing from the show merger list. I hope that this list is an abbreviated one!

Well, i'm more upset about tech live being missing, they might merge those two into screensavers and add a half hour or something, i dunno.

I'm happy that screensavers is still there, that show is great on so many levels ^^ and Leo is such a perv Razz

The FAQ for the merger says the merger will increase G4's customer base from 15 million to 44 million. I'm guessing this means most people who get Tech TV but not G4 will now get G4.

I find it kind of strange that they would expand this special interest channel to satellite providers. I thought Comcast and other satellite companies were in competition?

I’m more interested in the possibilities rather than its’ possible changes. I mean, anime, video games and computer technology, it could be considered as the ultimate geekdom channel. Wink

About Adam's suckiness, I hope they fire the writers of X-Play. He was fine back when the show was Gamespot Tv (he had another co host then) and when it got changed to Extended Play (he was solo). Those two shows had a lot less crappy jokes than X-Play (when a lady for Screen Savers got moved to it). The writers just sucked so much. They have a lot more to do with Adam's suckiness than Adam....

Anyway, hopefully they wont drop AU. Since G4 repeats a lot of programming, I doubt there is much to drop. Both networks I belived use a lot of infomericials, so maybe there will be less reliance on them now that the networks are merged.

Looks like Comcast and its billions of dollars scores another Channel next up Disney.

Hmm I don't mind the merger to much I hated most of the shows on G4 anyways. I hope most of the bad shows from both channels get canned, wtf Robot Wars is still scheduled crap!

Oh btw there are a lot of channels owned by Comcast that also air on satellite and other cable companies.

That show'd be a lot better if they didn't have the House Robots taking over every single match and the traps didn't end the matches instantly (yay...the lame pit...again).

Basically, if it were more like Battlebots on Comedy Central...why, oh why, did they ever cancel that show?

it does say taht there keeping Anime Unleashed, if i remember right i had G4 for about a week or two and it was quite repetitive but that was way back, Adam was fine in Extended Play and Morgan i belive was on the screen savers back then and now them togeather is just horabble, its fun to read about much TechTV viewers hate them and complain on TechTVs own forums, and i would guess that they would replace TechTV with G4 as in on TechTVs channel to dain that extra 40million views instead of the other way around, becouse if they did that then what would have been the point in mergering with TechTv?
One thing i have been wondering is whatever happined to the old host of call for help on TechTV? now its Leo(no complants) but he's on like 3 shows now

Actually, if you ever watch TechTV they have Parillo back every once in a while. He left the network to pursue some independent project of sorts...I forget the details, but they do have him back once in a while as a guest on Screen Savers and/or Unscrewed.

Anyway, I figure with all the X-Play hate, it's about time I pitched in the single, sole voice of support for those two. I think the show's better than it's ever been and I hope they don't change a thing.

In case you were wondering about the effects in Canada, here's a quote taken from TechTV Canada's website:

Quote:
TechTV Merges with G4
TechTV in Canada will benefit from combined force.

Toronto, Ontario - March 25th, 2004 - TechTV Canada announced today that the merger of TechTV and G4 in the United States is a positive development for the future of the Canadian channel and its offerings to its viewers.

"The purchase of TechTV by the Comcast Corporation and the subsequent merger of the two channels will afford TechTV Canada, in all likelihood, the opportunity to provide a broader range of complementary technology lifestyle programming,” comments Andrea Gagliardi, Director of Public Relations, TechTV Canada. “With the announcement of this new partnership, we look forward to an even brighter future and bigger successes for TechTV in Canada."

I really, really hope that "broader range" would include anime. Not that I get digital cable or anything.

I had never heard of G4 before the merger talk, either. And from what some people have said about it, that seems like a good thing.

Man, I hope with the new management Sessler gets fired. He's totally ruined that show with his condencending tone, bad acting, and lousy jokes. Hopefully I will get G4 in place of Techtv on my cable now.

Adam didn't ruin it, the producers did. back when it was just called "Extended Play", all adam did was review games, and nothing more. guess they figured the show didn't have enough personality.

Anime Unleashed is the name given to the collection of anime that run on TechTV. Basically, they'll take two or three shows from their collection and run them a couple times, then swap them out for two or three more.

So far, their collection of titles includes Banner of the Stars, Betterman, Boogiepop Phantom, Crest of the Stars, Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure, Gatekeepers 21, Geneshaft, Last Exile, Serial Experiments Lain, Silent Möbius, SoulTaker, and they also once ran the Armitage III: Polymatrix movie.

Short of extra commercial breaks (TechTV's small and needs the advertising revenue more than most networks) and subsequent edits for time (minor things like long camera pans & the like), the shows are run relatively uncut.
