The disc would've been better if they left in the original, uncut version: Razz

I have to say, I think the fact that Toriyama designed the characters is more of a turn-off to me than anything the show could possibly do (not that I'd expect much from this sort of show anyway), though I often feel like the only person on a planet who strongly dislikes his character designs (at least for humans). Seriously...foreheads are NOT that big. Razz

You are not alone. I'm not a fan of Toriyama's character designs either. However, I do like that character designs for Dragon Quest VIII, those look decent. Now if the characters didn't speak with accents, that would be even better. I don't have anything against accents, they just sound weird to me.

Yeah Toriyama, like CLAMP, tends to recycle his designs a lot. Humans aren't really his strong point to me, he's better at dragons and dinos and whatnot.

Leiji Matsumoto is worse:

Seriously, has he only drawn one woman his entire career?

Eh, it hardly had to do with the game, so that alienated the gamers.
Then they added in the fanservice shenanigans, so that alienated the kids
that the game tries to attract (it's a kiddie-ish RPG).
Even Microsoft (who pushed the game for its 360) moved away from it.
So, it lost a lot of its supporters, so it had nobody to back it
when CN pulled it.

Well, it was just an aimless ship.
If they want to target the gamers, then target the gamers.
If they want the youths, then target the youths.
I don't think the anime production company knew what they were doing;
they squandered the anticipation that came with the game.
It's like they were aiming for the otaku but with a family-friendly game.

Well, the game was really entertaining. The anime I find interesting only when the Shadows have something to say. Giving them the same personalities in the game may have made it more memorable, even if Killer Bat is the silent warrior type (seriously, couldn't they give him a voice?).

And wow about Matsumoto, that's a lot of recycling Anime hyper
