So I'm guessing this means it'll be gone for good?

Kind of saw it coming but still sad none-the-less.

The dissolution plan will pay unsecured creditors who owe more than US$800 million toward the higher end of a 4% to 10% range on their debt.

I think that should be "who are owed," not "who owe."

So, unsecured creditors are owed over $800 million but will get at most only 10% of that? Sucks to be them...................

One of the biggest reasons Borders failed was they never had a coherent strategy for e-book readers like Barnes & Noble did when B&N rolled out the Nook at the end of 2009. Today, the Nook Simple Touch and Tablet are very viable devices and could very soon contribute hugely to B&N's bottom line.

Anyone else have a Books-A-Million open where your borders used to be?

At least for me they carry a better selection than Barnes & Noble.

^^^ *Sigh* No. There's some stupid holiday store there, and it's not even open.

I really have to move to the city -- ANY city.

Me too... I hate driving by one of the abandoned, closed down ones and remembered how much I loved browsing around and using their coupons :'(

I have fond memories of my local Borders. It was right next to the movie theater. When going to see a movie, I'd buy a ticket, then go over to Borders for a while to browse, then head back over before coming attractions. After the movie I would head back to Borders. I bought a great deal of books, let alone manga, at that store. The weird thing is, even though the store is closed, the sign is still there and I see it every time I'm in the area. A small part of me hopes when I see it that it might reopen, even though I know it won't.

No, one of the biggest reasons is corporate mismanagement. E-Books was a small factor in the whole mess.
