You want to know why i said that. well it's true cause of a census review of epsiodes watching online, and downloaded illegaly and CG was number 5 right next to one piece which is #1 . Also i know for a fact that illegal sites and fansubs is killing the industry cause people won't buy the DVDs after seeing the fansubs or watch the epsiodes on free streaming sites. it's these factors that cause the downfall of Geneon and who told me that? JYB himself and the guy who played as sukazu's boss a.k.a Liam O Brien on Otakon 07 when i asked them about their reactions to the end of Geneon while as a volunteer for Otakon 07.

it is not the responsibility of the US government to go and find illegally uploaded material so they can remove it, its the license holders. You ever try finding a fansub of a FUNimation product? you won't find it to easy, because they actively look for their properties so they can remove it. So the burden is on the companies, not the Government.

Fansubs is a problem, but like the poster before me, its not the issue here. [AS] need to advertise their shows better, like they did with bleach, and Cowboy Bebop.

Why? So other people can watch and dowload the series for free? Or watch it in high quality free of cost?

Please, spare us your justice. No one gives a damn.

This is all that needs to be said. Fansubbers are not the blame for the poor ratings of Code Geass. There was EXTREMELY little advertising and it gets a mere 2 seconds of mentioning now when they talk about what's on the adult swim website each week.

You can toss around your info concerning what two actors said (And lemme tell ya, the fact that you talked to them a YEAR ago lowers credibility even more, especially considering lots of stuff can happen over a year like it clearly has with companies getting releases out quicker) and the online polls but there's still no solid proof that fansubbers are the prime cause. They may be part of it but your post acted as if they are the only problem within the industry. If that wasn't your intention with the post, then... well, the discussion so far is void then, but you still sound like one of the radicals who wants to point fingers, rather than suggesting people need to work together to solve a problem instead of just complaining.

And as for the whole not purchasing the DVD's problem, some people just wanna watch a series once and not pay out the ass for it, like myself. iTunes' offering of anime is helping combat that if you ask me, as it's kept me from having to pay over 90 bucks to watch the entire series (Actually coming around to more like 55-65 dollars) and giving me digital copies I own forever (You know... as far as I know, I may have to pay a fee for an upgraded version but eh, not a problem) and can't lose since I have them backed up on DVD-ROM's thanks to the ability to do so with said program. It's a real relief to not have to make such an unpleasant investment in the actual content itself now and allow the money that would've been spent on DVD's or something to be potentially spent on other series or merchandise.

So again, don't go making claims like you did before, it doesn't help you. You can go on and on about geneon and what two people said, but that has nothing to do with Code Geass. The mentions of fansubs in this discussion needs to end here and now.

Too bad the series is still rotting away in the death slot hour at 5 AM. Sad

Series is crap from here on out....might as well let it die. First 14 episodes are good...after that it's like wtf?

In this kind of economy and with elections next week....I don't think the government has ANY time to be dealing with this. Nor will they have the time soon....Stocks are down to as low as they were in 2003/4, volatility is more ridiculous than it was during the 1987 crash, and credit markets are worse than what they were during the great depression......

You did finish it, right?

spoiler[Aside from the lack of everything concerning Geass and Lelouch's fate, I thought it ended pretty well. Peace was restored, the hatred of the world was mostly destroyed with the death of the 'demon' and mostly everyone got a happy or bittersweet ending... I really find the confusion and occasionally akward pacing to be worth it for the conclusion we got. There's no reason to say 'wtf?' at the ending entirely... Maybe a few loose threads but to say it didn't make any sense at all is kinda... Wrong.]

Fat chance, unless it's either an OVA or spoiler[Lelouch didn't die and is the guy driving the cart at the end]

Man, talk about exercise in futility.

Really, it's nice that they'll air season 2 on Adult Swim, but I'm certain that Cartoon Network will cancel the show once all of its episodes have aired.

I should know, because they did the same thing for Bobobo-Bo Bo-bobo, which was also poorly advertised.

I don't get this. They're posting it online for people who don't want to watch it on TV and to keep people from downloading it. Yet at the same time they pushed the DVD release of vol. 3 and 4 back two months.

It just doesn't make sense to me.

yes I did on the very "special" day it ended on too. and I'm rather disatisfied. spoiler[yes the ending was better than I anticipated, but this series could have been a whole lot better had they paced it better and they had the chance to do so. The part where everything was thrown off track was when C.C.'s memory was sealed....or rather I could say where they rushed Shirley's death. Shirley's death lead to everything with Charles being defeated so soon. Had they moved the plot to where Lelouch ends Schneizel's reign FIRST and then moved on to Shirley's death, it would have been a lot more effective and a larger impact on fans.
I say this because C.C. was literally forgotten for the rest of the series after Charles was vanquished. C.C. was essentially the central focus along with her will to die since R1...and what we get is Lelouch as the one dead with an ending that we'll never know about....]

One good thing that came out of this series was this: spoiler[http://img136.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1225237483066md6.jpg
this is excluding Jeremiah being totally bad*ss at the end of the series. Definetely an awesome character to the end Anime hyper]

Oh well, its not like more people are gonna watch it if it was earlier, people who like the show most likely watched it before it came on adultswim or at least knew about it. Thats the way it is with anime.

in other news, MORE CRISPIN FREEMAN!!!!

Kyogissun pretty much nailed it head on. Fansubs are an overarching problem that spans across all anime, to point out a specific show and label fansubs as the sole or most prominent reason for its failure is just flat-out wrong.

@jr0904
Where is this census review of yours? I'd sure like to see it both for this topic and other reasons. If you want a little less generalizations when asking questions from industry reps, I suggest you put on a press badge next time.
Let's face it, no one takes the gophers seriously...

I don't understand why everyone's complaining about the 5 AM timeslot so much. If you're watching Cartoon Network, it means you have cable or dish services. If you have cable or dish services, it means you have access to some sort of DVR system where you can program your box to record certain shows at certain times like clockwork.

Granted, it costs a little extra, but if you already have that feature, it doesn't matter whether it's on at midnight or 5 AM...just record the damn thing and watch it WHENEVER YOU WANT!

Oh the wonders of technology...this must surely be the age of THE FUTURE!

Not all of us can afford TiVo or DVR. I certainly can't. So yeah, I'm gonna complain about the 5 am time slot because that is just ridiculous. Like your attitude.
