....what a total douchebag thing to say.

I'm surprised that she was the voice of Meowth, but that show has been going on for 10 years now in the US. Well, at least most of us know why she's recognizable anyway. What I didn't know though, that she was Sister Jill in the live action Cutie Honey movie. I have it and I loved the dub.

Anyway, this makes my heart hurt. My condolences to her family.

48, that's way too young she still had over half of her life ahead of her Crying or Very sad

Not to mention she played Meoth, the one worth noting for not the rip off they have now. I always loved her performance on that show, hopefully she's resting peacefully now.

I see angry posts coming your way.

When mentioning Pokemon, that sure brings back a lot of memories, good times and everything related to the franchise. It's a sad day and I'm sure that she will be missed.

What? No way. From what?!

The only thing that could possibly spring to mind would be complications from the operation, but that was a while ago...

She was pretty cool for actually talking to fans. I wasn't a huge fan of the writing for the Pokemon dub, but her Meowth was amazing.

Ditto that, I never watched Pokemon but I do wonder how she passed away. That's too bad.

Unbelievable, she played both Meowth and Solomon?!

"She was an incredible actress with unlimited range." I have to agree. I had no idea they were played by the same person, nor that they were played by a woman.

Wait. Is this person a girl or a guy? They said this person does Yugi's grandfather from Yu-Gi-Oh! and that's kinda strange.

I told my dad about this and he's bummed about it. Her Meowth was cool. I feel bad she/he died.

she was a male to female transsexual.

maddie Sad so sad! the cause was evidently a stomach virus or something of the sort - the family decided against an autopsy, so the real reason isn't ever going to be known. she died in her sleep though, apparently with no pain, so there's that at least.

rip.

Yeah, that's similar to what I'd heard. Apparently she fell ill just after Thanksgiving, so it was likely food poisoning.

It's a real shame, it is. I too was among the first generation of Pokemon fans who'd watched the dub almost religiously, and this indeed a huge loss.

I just dugg the article on digg.com. But someone bet me to it so please everyone digg this article so that other people that don't come to this sight know about her passing.

I wish we had a bury feature on here so that we could bury that troll. She was responsible for getting thousands of kids into anime. For a lot of kids Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters were their first anime.

Indeed, a very unfair year. I can't recall seeing as many deaths reported in recent years Sad

Yeah, forgot to mention some musicians (Eri Kawai comes to mind), as well as some shocking unexpected deaths of up-and-coming actresses, one of whom was in the recent live-action adaptation of Sailor Moon I believe (forgive me, I can't recall her name!), and I think a few manga-ka as well Sad

Even though I didn't wanna admit it back then, Pokémon was my true first anime. I used to get up at before 10AM on Saturdays to catch it with my brother. I sorta found Meowth to be annoying, but I don't disrespect the work put into the character that Maddie did so well.

Interesting to learn that "she" was born a "he". That was totally unexpected.

Some real haters in here...it's disrespectful to talk ill of the dead in any way. We are here to honor the memory and work of a great woman. She provided my childhood with a plethora of happy memories in a myriad of troubles.

I will never forget meowth and the other meowth talking in Mewtwo Strikes Back.

Another star in the sky and another light in heaven. I will never forget her.

Someone before me put it best, looks like she's blasting off, one last time.

Rest In Peace Maddie, you will be sorely missed.
