Im hoping the third season of ikki is still comming out. Or else Im forced to buy from Malaysia. Got the R1 release for Season 1 (R1 artbox set) and its been about 3 weeks since I ordered my last batch from rightstuff. According to rightstuf, they are still trying to get a print from the manufactuerer (This is what I get for being patient). Im not sure if Ill ever get my R1 release if its still in backorder for 3+ weeks. Kinda rediculous if you ask me.

Queen's Blade is a good series and Im not surprised if they stay with it. Rebellion airs in spring here in Taiwan on Animax, so I get to loose myself in translation (either japanese or chinese dub with only chinese subs). I hope MB survives long enough to release Rebellion, although the US is so [expletive] slow releasing shit.

And people Said Queens Blade wouldn't hurt the industry. Well, here we are, in a world where Lodss War is getting denied it's Blu Ray release and we're getting as much badly done sub-porn as we want.

Never trusted MB after their GaoGaiGar screw up and this only adds evidence for their eventual financial execution by hanging.

How exactly is an anime being very popular and making money for many parties involved "Hurting the industry"?

Sub-porn isn't breaking a company that's been responsible for bring in real porn for decades.

It hurts the industry when that's all a company (That isn't expresively in it for the porn) puts out (...huh).

Queen's Blade should have been a foundation upon which stuff like Lodss War and Bakuman should have come forth.

Instead, it's the only, really crappy, game in town. You want things that ADV or Funi won't release? Better hope someone else comes pops out of nowhere to do it because all Media Blasters wants is to fart out some more awful crap that, frankly, is an embarrassment to the idea of animated porn.

"Here lies Media Blasters; instead of going out in a blaze of fire, they farted out some badly done crap that barely qualifies as titillating"

No, it shouldn't be a "foundation". What you just said is "stuff that makes money should be used to bring forth things that don't make money".
Do you know ANYTHING about how a business works? If QB is selling, and it is, it's not hurting the industry, it's doing the exact opposite.

First of all Lodoss War wouldn't have done well at all, especially not for the kind of remastered blu-ray from film effort they were planning. And as others have already mentioned it's the fact that they can't get the original film that reason why it was dropped. I don't remember much of it, but the TV was just cheesy terrible and even though I still have the OVAs on VHS somewhere, that wasn't too great either (except for the music)--well it was when first saw it, so there's some nostalgia to it, but not after rewatching again a while back.

Second of all, who is the industry? This whole idea of projecting your likes and dislikes on "the industry" is ridiculous. It includes and relies on the consumers--that means me you AND me. Essentially you're implying you would like to limit choice, that if only it were limited to the "right" kinds of titles then all would be well Rolling Eyes

In any case, would you want to MB to loose ALL of their licenses they still have but have put on hold (with potentially less likely chance of other licensees) OR actually hope that Queen's Blade sells to people like me and a few others so that we can get them back on track?

The fact that Ikkitousen franchise--something I was also looking forward to (in addition to Bakuman and Squid Girl, mind you)--is canceled/on hold also disproves your theory about so-called animated porn. Quite ironic about quick people are to throw that term around since in reality it is still far from being porn nor rated as such (you haven't seen any if you truly believe that)

Record of Lodoss War (OVA) is one of many 80s and 90s shows that I think could really benefit from a good remaster (and I'd be really eager to get). Unfortunately, I really don't think that it would ever make enough money to be worthwhile (even if they did get a better master). Most people are just not interested in 20-year-old anime.

The least gloomy interpretation is, I suppose, that Media Blasters has become very risk averse and chose to cancel their release of Record of Lodoss War because they couldn't be sure enough that it would earn a profit, or at least break even.

Actually, mainstream fantasy anime series (12 Kingdoms, which they also just re-released as BD, Guardian of the Spirit, ...) apparently sell quite well (it was stated in an ANN Cast, but I don't remember which one, and it makes sense if you think about it, these anime series aren't otakuish-geeky and appeal to the average fantasy / adventure-fan), which is probably the main reason they even considered re-releasing Lodoss War in the first place.

All I see is proof that Queen's Blade is superior to both Lodoss War and Bakuman and people like it more.

Once their Queen's Blade cow dries up, that means they'll have to release Qwaser next. To which I rejoice.

I'm indifferent to this news as I really don't have any interest in the series.

No worries though. After reading this, it's not like MB won't get some of my money.

Strawberries running around in a panic. That's got "campy" all over it. What? It's not about fruit?

Well, I guess I'm in for a surprise, then.

Well, I already own all of Lodoss, but I was planning to double dip on their release if there was a big difference in video quality. Also, the Blu-ray release of Squid Girl was supposed to be out March 13th, but my pre-order with RightStuf still hasn't come in. A quick look on Amazon now says the release date is April 10, 2012. Maybe RightStuf just hasn't received news of the delayed release date. It looks like I'm really going to be broke in April now, between Kimi ni Todoke, Madoka Magica and all of the Funimation releases I have ordered.

Hey guys, remember Fushugi Yugi? Remember Media Blasters kinda quietly acquired that and plans on re-releasing it on DVD next month? The folks on ANN Cast admitted that they doubt it'll even be released at all, which is fairly likely considering Media Blasters' slow and painful death. Seriously, do they have any new titles now that's NOT Queen's Blade? It's a shame they put Bakuman on indefinite hold, but I don't even think they made ANY attempt to advertise that show, and STILL release it in a single DVD. It comes of no surprise to me that it may have under-performed (although I have seen it on the Amazon anime bestsellers list quite a bit). Because of Media Blaster's financial situation, they might be extra picky as far as sales numbers are concerned.

NOOOOOOO

I have waited 12 years for Fushigi Yuugi to drop below the $200 per box price. I will not be defeated now!

The Lodoss news is saddening, it's my favourite series. But yeah, a rerelease wouldn't make much sense without being remastered.

I am an unabashed big fan of Ikki Tousen, and pining away for the 3rd & 4th seasons to make their way to America. Hmmm, I guess nothing to do but watch the news & see how it all plays out. Sad

Makes me sad that good classic anime gets the shaft while there is shit like Squid Girl being released.
