Tofu Returns to Battle in Resident Evil 2 Remake

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

CAPCOM's remake of Resident Evil 2 will reunite Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield when the game launches for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on January 25, but it'll also bring back another character -- one high in protein.

Tofu will make its glorious return with a graphics upgrade as it attempts to save Raccoon City from a zombie infestation with little more than a knife and a flashlight. Since its original appearance in the "The Tofu Survivor" scenario, Tofu is looking more delicious than ever, even if it's lost his hands in the remake (perhaps in an awful cooking accident?).

Curious fans have dug around in the PC demo for more clues about the soy soldier's appearance in the game. Currently there are hints that he might have additional dessert-themed skins.

Tofu's appearance was revealed in the exclusive trailer included in the game's "1-Shot" demo currently out on Steam, the PlayStation Store, and the XBox Store. The demo also revealed the return of Hunk, the protagonist of the original game's "4th Survivor" scenario. Tofu's own scenario is a joke version of Hunk's scenario.

The Resident Evil 2 remake will have third-person perspective gameplay (changed from the fixed camera angles of the original game), similar to the gameplay introduced in Resident Evil 4.

The original Resident Evil 2 marked the introduction of the character Leon Kennedy, as he finds his first day on the Raccoon City Police Department marked by a sudden zombie infestation in the city. The game also centers on Claire Redfield attempting to find her brother Chris, one of the main characters of the first game.
