Ototachibana's Shōnen Maid Manga Listed With Side Story Volume

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Side story slated for March 1 focuses on Uchōten Boys characters

Amazon is listing a new side story volume for Ototachibana's Shōnen Maid manga titled "Shōnen Maid Gaiden: Uchōten Boys." The volume is listed with a March 1 release.

The new volume's description noted that the side story will focus on the Uchōten Boys, a male idol group consisting of Ryūji, Hayato, and Ibuki. The story will show their troubles and worries in the entertainment industry, as well as their everyday lives while living together.

The main Shōnen Maid manga revolves around Chihiro Komiya, an energetic elementary school student who was living with his mom. Chihiro is very good at doing housework and chores, and his mother's motto is "No work, no food." After his mother suddenly dies, a man named Madoka Taketori who claims to be his uncle shows up, and asks Chihiro to come live with him. Chihiro initially refuses, but when seeing the horribly dirty state of Madoka's rich home, he decides to start cleaning it. Then Madoka makes another offer to Chihiro: that he comes to live with him, but in exchange Chihiro will do the housework. Chihiro accepts this deal, but suddenly finds himself in a maid uniform.

Ototachibana launched the series in Kadokawa's Comic B's-LOG magazine in the April 2008 issue, and ended it in March 2017. Kadokawa published 10 compiled book volumes for the manga. The manga inspired a television anime adaptation that premiered in April 2016. Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

Digital Manga Inc. had announced in 2008 that it had licensed Ototachibana's one-volume Ghost Hunt Scramble! manga, but the company has not yet released the title.
