Play with original story, characters runs in Tokyo, Osaka in April-May

Production I.G announced on Saturday that its Psycho-Pass franchise is inspiring a stage play. The play will run in Tokyo from April 18-30, and then in Osaka from May 4-6. The play will feature a completely original spinoff story and will feature original characters. Hiroki Suzuki (pictured below) will star in the play.

Psycho-Pass anime scriptwriter Makoto Fukami is returning to write the scripts for the play, and the anime's chief director Katsuyuki Motohiro is directing the play. Production I.G is credited as story supervisor.

The original Psycho-Pass anime premiered in 2012 and ran for 22 episodes. The 11-episode Psycho-Pass 2 television anime series then premiered in October 2014, and the Psycho-Pass movie opened in Japan in January 2015. Funimation released all three anime on home video.

The first film in the Psycho-Pass SS or Psycho-Pass: Sinners of the System anime film trilogy will open in Japan on January 25. The second film will open on February 15, and the third film will open on March 8.

The franchise has also inspired several manga adaptations and spinoff manga, as well as the Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness game.
