posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Action RPG launched for PS4, Switch in Japan on November 29

NIS America began streaming a video on Saturday for its release of Nippon Ichi Software's Lapis x Labyrinth (Lapis・Re・Abyss) action role-playing game. The video reveals that NIS America will release the game for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in North America on May 28, in Europe on May 31, and in Australia and New Zealand on June 7. The release will have Japanese audio and English text.

The game's physical releases for both consoles will be the limited edition version of the game only. NIS America has not yet revealed the contents of the limited edition. NIS America will also release the game digitally.

The game shipped in Japan for the PS4 and Switch on November 29. NIS America previously stated that the game "will be known for the South East Asia region" as Lapis x Labyrinth.

NIS America describes the game:

Stack, raid, and GET PAID! The dungeon-diving action RPG Lapis x Labyrinth puts you at the center of a high-octane treasure-hunting quest, where the danger is great and the rewards are even greater! Do you have what it takes to smash through hordes of monsters and traps to gain riches beyond your imagination?

When a struggling village falls on hard times and is in desperate need of wealth, there's only one solution: gather your comrades, venture into the labyrinth below the Golden Forest, and claim the piles of gold and treasures hidden within! You will need all your courage and wits to survive the dangers ahead, but the treasures that await you are well worth it! Customize your team with over 4,000 unique combinations, then use the creative stacking mechanic to perform synchronized attacks. When you've racked up enough destruction, unleash the explosive power of Fever Mode to really make the cash flow! With 8 different character classes, engaging monster encounters, and stylish, over-the-top visuals, this adventure has everything you need to make it rain!

Hirokazu Itano directed the game and designed the characters. The game uses a "DANGO" system, where players choose between eight character classes to build their four-member party, and swap between them for attacks. The classes include hunter, necromancer, shielder, maid, gunner, wizard, destroyer, and bishop.
