One Piece Cosplay King Grand Prix Offers 3D-printed Trophies of Winners' Costumes

posted on by Kim Morrissy

The World Cosplay Summit (WCS)'s One Piece Cosplay King Grand Prix will offer 3D-printed trophies of the three winning cosplay outfits. There will be a "crystal" trophy for the grand prize winner and "original" trophies for the runner-up winners.

The official website has also posted video comments from One Piece voice actors and contest judges Toshio Furukawa (Ace) and Tōru Furuya (Sabo) encouraging fans to submit their entries. Registration opened on January 7 and will last until March 30.

To celebrate the TV anime's 20th anniversary, the World Cosplay Summit is recruiting 20 One Piece cosplayers from around the world: nine characters from the Straw Hat crew, and 11 others. The 20 selected cosplayers will appear at the World Cosplay Summit 2019 in Nagano on August 3, where they will compete for the title of Grand Prix champion. To apply, you must register an account at Cosplayers.Global and post a photo of yourself with the hashtag #opcosplayking.

The World Cosplay Summit is a cosplay festival that first kicked off in 2003. Cosplayers from around the world represent their country in the event to decide the world's best cosplay. Last year, representatives from 38 countries and regions competed for the largest WCS event to date.
