Saga of Tanya the Evil Anime Film Gets 4DX Screenings

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The official website for the anime adaptation of Carlo Zen and Shinobu Shinotsuki's Saga of Tanya the Evil (Yōjo Senki) novel series announced on Friday that the franchise's anime film will have 4DX screenings in Japan beginning on April 5. People who attend 4DX screenings will receive a film strip. The website also began streaming a new commercial for the announcement.

The film opened in Japan on February 8, and it earned 100 million yen (about US$906,285) in its first five days. The anime has earned 200 million yen (about US$1.8 million) as of February 23.

The film's story follows from the events of the television anime. In 1926, Tanya and her battalion return home from defeating remnants of the Republic's army. However, when they arrive they receive word of a massive mobilization near the border with the Russy Federation, so the Empire's army must prepare. At the same time, a multinational army under the leadership of the Allied Kingdom moves into the Russy Federation. The enemy of an enemy is a friend, but among the Allied Kingdom army is Mary Sue, a girl who has sworn to exact justice against the Empire for the death of her father.

Most of the staff and cast returned from the earlier television anime.
