Company plans streaming, home video releases

Maiden Japan announced on Tuesday that it has licensed the This Art Club Has a Problem! (Kono Bijutsu-bu niwa Mondai ga Aru!) anime for streaming and home video release.

Maiden Japan describes the series:

A totally ordinary art club at the totally ordinary Tsukimori Middle School. There, Subaru Uchimaki squanders his artistic talent on his true passion and life's mission: drawing the ideal "2D wife." Club member Mizuki Usami finds herself with a crush on the hopeless Uchimaki. The seemingly uninterested club president is always sleeping, but he keeps a close eye on Uchimaki and Usami's antics. Then there's the mysterious Colette, who's usually lost in her own little world. When this ragtag bunch gathers together as the Art Club, there's sure to be some problems...

The 12-episode slice-of-life comedy anime premiered in 2016, and Crunchyroll streamed it as it aired.

The anime adapts Imigimuru's manga of the same name. Kei Oikawa (Outbreak Company, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!, Minami-ke: Okaeri) directed the series at studio feel. Naruhisa Arakawa (MAOYU, Outbreak Company, Kingdom) wrote and oversaw the scripts, Mai Otsuka (Non Non Biyori, Shakugan no Shana) designed the characters, and Satoshi Motoyama (Oreimo, Little Busters!, WATAMOTE) was the sound director. Kuniaki Masuda (Kiss×sis, So, I Can't Play H!) was the chief animation director.

Nana Mizuki performed the anime's opening theme song "Starting Now!," while Sumire Uesaka performed the ending theme song "Koisuru Zukei (cubic futurismo)."
