Goblin Slayer: Brand New Day Manga Ends in May

Spinoff manga launched in May 2018

The May issue of Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine revealed on Thursday that it will publish the final chapter of Masahiro Ikeno's Goblin Slayer: Brand New Day spinoff manga in the magazine's next issue on May 25.

Yen Press is publishing the manga simultaneously with Japan. The manga launched in May 2018 in Monthly Big Gangan, and it follows the people around the titular character. Square Enix published the manga's first volume in Japan on September 25, and will publish the second and final volume on June 25.

SB Creative published the first volume of the Goblin Slayer dark fantasy novel series in February 2016, and Kōsuke Kurose launched an ongoing manga adaptation in Monthly Big Gangan in May 2016. Kento Eida is serializing a manga spinoff titled Goblin Slayer Side Story: Year One in Young Gangan magazine.

The series centers on a man who desires to become an "adventurer," but insists on only killing goblins. The story begins with a female priest who has just joined a party, but quickly gets in trouble. She is saved by the man known as the "Goblin Slayer," a man who is ranked Gold (third highest) in his local guild in subduing goblins. In the story, he says, "I won't save the world, I just kill goblins." After hearing rumors about him, a female elf approaches him with a request.

Yen Press has licensed the novels and both Kurose and Eida's manga. The company is also publishing both the main manga and Year One simultaneously with Japan.

A 12-episode anime adaptation of the main novels premiered in Japan on October 6, and Crunchyroll streamed the series with subtitles as it aired. Funimation also streamed the series with an English dub. A new episode that will screen in theaters, titled Goblin Slayer: Goblin's Crown, will feature returning staff and cast.
