posted on by Egan Loo

The official YouTube channel for the television anime of Yako Gureishi's Somali and the Forest Spirit (Somali to Mori no Kamisama) manga began streaming the anime's second promotional video on Sunday. The video unveils additional cast members for the anime.

A new key visual by character designer Ikuko Ito also debuted on Sunday:

The newly announced cast members are:

Actress Rie Shibata in her TV anime debut role as Rosa-obasan (character name romanization not confirmed), whom Somari and the others meet on the street

Shō Hayami as Musurika

Tomokazu Seki as Kokilira

Ai Kayano as Hazel

Ayahi Takagaki as Praline

The previously announced cast includes:

Kenji Yasuda (Macross Delta, Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens) is directing the anime at Satelight (Aquarion, Macross Delta) and HORNETS. Mariko Mochizuki (writer on Aquarion Logos, Last Hope, Senki Zesshō Symphogear AXZ, Sōsei no Aquarion Love) is supervising the series scripts. Ikuko Ito (Princess Tutu, The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan) is designing the characters.

Naotarō Moriyama performs the opening song "Arigatō wa Kocchi no Kotoba," which he also composed. Inori Minase, who stars in the show as Somali, is performing the show's ending theme song "Kokoro Somali."

The anime will premiere in January, after a delay from this fall. Crunchyroll is co-producing the anime, and it will stream the series as it airs in Japan. Crunchyroll also hosted the world premiere of the anime at Crunchyroll Expo on August 30.

The manga is set in a world ruled by spirits and monsters, and where humans are persecuted and driven to the brink of extinction. In a certain forest, a golem – the guardian of the forest – and a little girl meet. Their journey as surrogate father and daughter to each other begins.

Gureishi launched the manga on Tokuma Shoten's Web Comic Zenyon web manga site in April 2015.
