Random hot take:

With North Carolina having recently passed that awful transgender bathroom bill, I think it would be great if any of these people were to boycott the convention.

[and pop goes the flamewar]

What a pleasant surprise! Aya Hirano visiting my home state of NC! Very Happy Just reading this news brings me sheer joy!

...

Then again, in light of recent events involving political and emotional duress, I really can't say I'm proud of living in NC...

I don't think Aya Hirano is up to date on American Politics, or recent news regarding American News.

Given that this is a domestic issue at the state level, I doubt the average Japanese person would know about the NC and Missisippi Religious Rights laws unless they regularly read news articles about the US. Even if a Japanese company found out about the law, I have a feeling they wont make a scene and take a stance on another country's state level policy.

And I don't even know what, if any, laws are in place in Japan that affect the LGBT community. Since Japan is more conservative, I don't think they'd pull out of a convention over something like this.

As a resident of the state, I do advise anyone out of the state to avoid travel to NC till the higher courts strike down HB2.

Sorry, but I'm not going to let politics affect my enjoyment of the fandom.

No intentional offense, however your comment is an example of cisgender privilege.

Can we get the mods in here, tumblr logic and politics are seeping in on an anime board.

Seriously yall, don't turn this into a bloody political stage. Don't shove your ideals down other people's throats.

Welp, people are aware of the announcement and this thread serves no further purpose so it's just being closed.

I hope everyone who attends this convention has a good time.
