oh i hope Viz can still dub and release this on blu-ray

i'm all for more anime but i HATE it when it's exclusive to a streaming service because you lose access to it if you leave the service so you have to pay each month to watch it where as if it's physical you can ACTUALLY own it

plus if your internet is down you can't watch it either

i think Netflix should release their shows on DVD or blu-ray themselves or offer Digital Downloads

Actually Aniplex holds the license for the first series so expect them to do the same for this one. That being said, Netflix only has the streaming rights; home media rights have to be held by another company. And we all know Aniplex's prices.

Meanwhile, this is actually kind of a surprise. I knew Aniplex has quite a few deals with Netflix, probably in response to the success of The Seven Deadly Sins, but since the original was not originally through there this is a cool surprise.

Looks like I wont be watching this, good thing I had low hopes for it anyway.
But netflix licensing shows is really getting annoying.

Agreed because it might mean they could get stuff that is popular instead of the scraps like this

'Scraps'

Magi is a popular franchise both in Japan and the west. It stands to reason that a show featuring the backstory of one of its most well loved characters is in no way a 'scrap', whatever your preferences may be.

Not happy about this though. Magi streamed in CR so I assumed Sinbad would as well. Netflix needs to get with the program and do simulcasts, their 'binge watch' signature be damned.

I really don't get this line of thinking. Ignoring that Netflix shows eventually come to disc format, how is acquiring anime on the biggest on demand service in the country, and exposing it to millions who would otherwise ignore it a bad thing? Would anyone give a damn about Seven Deadly Sins or Knights of Sidonia if they were DVD/Blu Ray only releases or slumming it at 2:30am on Toonami next to One Piece?

WHEN???

i don't know about where you live but the only Netflix show to EVER get a physical release in the UK was Sidonia, NO other Netflix series has had a physical release

and this is BAD,while in the short term it may bring in the cash but what about in 3 or 4 years when they are no longer on the service, how will we watch them then?

Exclusives remain on the service forever. For proof, go watch Season 1 of Orange is the New Black.

No, seriously, if you haven't watched it, go do it. Right now.

So, question...Does this take place after the OVAs or is this sort of a remake of the same content?

Part of it remakes the OVAs (4 of the TV episodes I think?) and the rest is new.

@Sarukah the show hasn't even aired yet, on account of the recent earthquakes.

Generally, I was hoping CR would get it. I'll be a good boy and wait for it to come out as I have for the other Netflix exclusives (originals my ass). Hopefully it doesn't take a year like Seven Deadly Sins. Still gotta see Ajin though.
