By "manga" they seem to actually mean animation. I've been told before that in the UK both anime and manga are referred to, collectively, as "manga".

Only by a minority now, everyone has started (most of the media included) to refer to it as "anime". They wrongly called "Manga" because of Manga Entertainments who released almost all the anime back in the 90ies. So when referring to this new animation there was only one word we knew, Manga, and of course they were quite happy for us to refer to it as such.

It's taking it's time but slowly the name is being dropped.

EDIT: Some of them are really good Smile glad theres something encouraging new artists and animators.
