The translation of the poster's tag is off. It says, "Here, anyone can be the leader." (Leader is open to interpretation, can also be MVP or star or similar; it's daredatte not dareka)

So is this trying to be the new Free! with all the pretty boy fangirl service. I mean that ass shot seems to say it all. I do have to ask though what the hell is up with the silver curls in the red heads hair. It looks really weird and pretty stupid I mean Yugioh Zexal levels of stupid hair designs. Okay maybe not that far but still is looks pretty dumb.

Wait, this is about Sevens rugby!?

That's... disappointing. I mean, it makes sense from a story-telling point of view; Sevens rugby is incredibly fast paced and the score can swing wildly, keeping it exciting. The play is more fluid, with players sometimes running the entire length of the field. The small team also makes character development far easier.

Still... Sevens. I thought this was finally going to be a proper rugby anime.

Ah well, at least yesterday's All Blacks vs Wales game was amazing.

I only read a few chapters of the manga and it was a while ago, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't rugby sevens. I think they just used the anime image/hype to cross-promote that sevens event, but the manga is 15-a-side.

Thanks for pointing out the daredatte thing. But if you look at the promo poster, it says "sevens" in furigana.

This anime's going to be about as fun as a root canal. It's most likely to be boring as heck and it's about a sport that's not really popular in the U.S. It wouldn't matter to me if they brought in an American rugby team with a British immigrant on it. It's not going to work here. In Britain, yes. In America,no.

I love how you're determining the show's worth based only on "this sport is not popular in America". See, the thing is it doesn't have to be popular in America. The production comittee literally doesn't care if the American audience likes it or not -if they do and it sells disks that's a nice bonus, but not the ultimate goal- because anime is not made thinking of American audiences (Space Dandy and DimW could be considered exceptions, but that's it). Anime is made for Japanese audiences, and in this particular case, Japanese fujoshi.

Furthermore, the sport's popularity has nothing to do with it. Cycling was a relatively minor sport, and in came Yowapeda and not only was it successul, it made cycling more popular in Japan. Heck, I don't know the first thing about rugby -I literally don't know how it's played at all- and I'm super excited about this show, and I'm sure there's tons of people in this forum -American- that are too. You don't speak for all the Americans or the American market. If you're not interested in the show and you won't watch it, that's okay, you don't have to, but don't claim it's going to be "boring" and "a failure" just because it does not cater to your very specific USA-centric tastes
