Ooh, the Lovecraft one sound interesting. I like his stories (barring the racism). To bad it isn't an adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness or The Shadow out of Time.

I think you might as well give up on the series. It sucks, since I went and collected all seven prior volumes. Dark Horse is one of the worst manga publishers in North America when it comes to dropping series. Just off the top of my head, they've dropped this, Eden: It's and Endless World, Reika the Zombie Shop, MPD Psycho, Narutaro: Shadow Star, and Drifters. |

Another Eva spin-off is interesting, but I still wish someone would just license-rescue Angelic Days so this underrated gem could be given another chance.

I guess that Hatsune Mix manga sold well enough for them to license more Vocaloid stuff… pity that HM wasn't particularly interesting. Just shows the power of the Miku brand, I guess.

For those curious, the Japanese edition can be found here. It also has two sequels, The Colour Out of Space and The Haunter of the Dark.

They're so busy promoting Fight Club 2 and all their other boring US comic releases to care, I bet. Horrible company and I wish they'd treat their manga division better. I agree that someone should call them out because their PR doesn’t seem to answer anyone's questions ever. It would do them better to stop lumping their manga announcements and PR in with their American comics on social media, because burying them in piles of "hey check out this new Hellboy" probably doesn't help sales at all. |

None of those titles are particulary big hits, so there's not much Dark Horse can do if those titles don't sell. I've asked Carl Horn at con panels before about Eden and MPD Psycho and I get the same answer every time. They can't finish a series that doesn't sell. His response to me about finishing Eden? "Eden sold horribly". I'm a fan of Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service and Horn said they've already lost several thousand dollars in publishing the latest volume.
That's the harsh truth. Dark Horse is an American comic publisher first and foremost, so manga publishing will always be second. It's not an excuse it's just the way it is. |

It would do them well to promote better, then. They keep lumping the manga in with their comics and that's probably why the sales are so poor. Might as well just close the division if they keep pulling that kind of stuff. I don't get why they can't set up a separate promotion for manga on social media or do digital releases. You'd think with the cash they get off their US comics they'd be able to afford that, the smegheads. It's not like setting up another Twitter or Facebook costs money.
Also they won't even bother to reprint older stuff like Kerberos Panzer Cop unflipped with a more concise and better translation or Gunsmith Cats. But I bet that's because they "won't sell" because again, whoever is running their manga PR is told to shove it in with their Fight Club 2 announcements. Worst publisher ever and shame on them. They should just give BBB to Viz and have Kodansha handle Berserk. |

thats the thing, they had a good opportunity to carry on BBB when the anime was out but nope, they stuck their thumb right up their arse and kept it there while the anime came and went.
It was a bugger of a time getting all of berserk as they were just out of print so often. comparing dark horse to every other manga publisher just makes me think they don't know what they're doing. |

Aren't you people being rather hard on Dark Horse?? I realized that it is aggravating when a title you like is discontinued before it is complete. However, most if not all US manga publishers have done this at one time or another.
According to the Encyclopedia Dark Horse has been in business since 1986. They have been publishing manga since at least 1988. I have a issue of Outlanders from December 1988 and that may not be their first title. The only US manga publisher I know of that has been putting out manga longer is Viz. I have an issue of Mai The Psychic Girl from May 1987 and that was in cooperation with another company now gone (Eclipse). Viz is hardly an exemplar of continuing to publish a money losing title. I can't believe that someone wanted to transfer an under preforming license to them. For that matter think of all the US manga publishers that have come and gone leaving dozens of titles unfinished. I think it is fairly clear that Dark Horse does in fact know what they are doing. It is just that reality hurts when a title you like doesn't get enough support to go to completion. Lets face it. Starting any manga title in the US longer than a few volumes is a crap shoot. If you buy the volumes as they come out, it may not be finished. If you wait until it is completely published some volumes may not be available or will be going for premium prices on E-bay. Hell, they may not even finish the series in Japan if it loses popularity there. The way I see it is that as a fairly small company Dark Horse has brought us a lot of good things. They only license a few titles each year so it is not like they are hording licenses. They have brought titles that other publishers will not touch which probably explains their failure rate. Their quality is excellent. Look at their version of Card Captor Sakura compared to that of Tokyo Pop. Also they have completed really long series when the title sold. Look at Blade of the Immortal and Oh My Goddess! |

I'll definitely buy that vocaloid manga. Though I can't say I blame darkhorse for dropping stuff. If it really was selling that much, they'd be more active in bringing it over. You'd have to be blind to not focus on a product that's selling well.

sure enough i was hoping on more info on that. not another eva spinoff which from the sounds of the title , is more like a comedic crapshoot just like attack of titan: junior high school. the only thing eva related that i want to know of right now is whether or not there will be an anime version of the shinji ikari raising project. |

For printed manga titles DH dropped, they could have just changed it to a e-book. While it is time and money, it less expensive that the costs for a print release.
