It must be awesome falling asleep and looking at all you have accomplished. Smile Amazing, amazing shelves. I look forward to this column every week, Paul, and thank-you Brittany for sharing!

My wallet would cry at the sight of those shelves, damn. Simply amazing.

I ordered Alcatraz Connection about a week ago (was out of stock) together with Gundam X Parts 1 & 2. I hope to get them later this week, I'm excited to watch it all again Very Happy

Alcatraz Connection is a pretty good Lupin special, I liked it a bit more than I initially anticipated. I'll be happy to add it to my collection. Now I still gotta get the BD's for Castle of Cagliostro and Jigen's Gravestone.

Guilty crown warranted a second release or I am missing something? Don't tell me the show actually sold really well!

That parasite boxart is sweet! Shame that's the boring part of the series...

I really like the look and the set up for that collection. It makes me want to buy an extra shelf, a bunch of figures and some artwork to pretty up my collection.

It's the first complete collection, almost three years since the separate half releases. SOP or it used to be; Aquarion EVOL seems to have gone straight to SAVE... but it also had its first release in two parts.

But Sekirei is a true seller; DVD in 2010, BD in 2012, complete collection 2013...nice gap there... and now an Anime Classic version that is...drumroll...20 dollars less MSRP which means you save less on it now during sales. Ah, irony. I bought my own copy at SAVE prices during a particularly ignoble Amazon sale... every now and then, they just price things a little off, you know...

Back to Guilty Crown, I don't why it took so long for a complete collection but there's a number of titles I'm still waiting for Funimation to get around to compiling. I have Shana 1 and 2 but I'm not buying 3 and 3.5. I don't know if they forgot about them or if they have a backlog. But more and more are just going straight to SAVE or Anime Classic; The fact that Guilty Crown did neither means Funimation hopes to get another release round out of it. Like Future Diary or...

Sorry, it will take some time to come up with another recent two part series that sold well that already got a vanilla complete collection. I could assume Attack on Titan will get such a release but that's just an assumption.

Physical releases are dead or dying. Except where they aren't.

Attack on Titan is pretty likely. The UK recently got such a set, all 25 episodes and specials included.

I hope that this "Lupin III" gets an English dub because it sounds like an interesting one. I hope that happens.

I don't have much information about this one, in fact it didn't even have an encyclopedia entry for this DVD set when I put this column together. If you've got any insights, by all means share them with the rest of us in the comments!

Another new release without its own encyclopedia entry, but at least I can point you to a review of the previous collection with this one.
Whelp, I should have added these sooner instead of waiting for an encyclopedia editor to add them as something was going to go wrong (Context: 1 2).
release#31628
release#31645
release#31644
release#31642
release#31643

Also as a quick note, adding releases to the encyclopedia is actually quite easy 99% of the time. When you're logged in, you'll see the following. Select "Release", and then select "Disc" (If you're adding an anime release), and then follow the instructions in the wizard.

I consider Alcatraz Connection to be one of my favorite Lupin features. I was really impressed that all the twists and turns in it actually worked instead of seeming contrived. My only pet peeve is the old "Lupin dies!" fakeout, which they use TWICE in this special, and right after using it in the previous one, $1 Money War (Missed By A Dollar)! But I adore the underground Alcatraz city, the secret identity of Zenigata's helper, and the action and comedy in this one, especially that opening sequence (often the best part of the TV specials). I consider this, along with the aforementioned $1 Money War, as well as the next one, Episode 0: First Contact, as the "golden trio" of Lupin specials.
