So the rumor was based on Japanese fan speculation, and nothing more

I'm totally fine with 3 One Pieces a month. Oda works really hard and gets very little sleep already, I don't want him to develop irreversible health problems.

One piece is Shonen jumps cash cow, why would they move it to another magazine?

If the breaks are due to Oda's work on the movie, then they'll probably cease soon, since the movie's release is less than a month away.

That said, Oda is getting older, so you have to wonder if he might just not be able to work as hard as he used to.

They wouldn't have to move it to a different magaizine to make it monthly. Boruto is monthly and it also runs in WSJ.

Seriously I didn't even hear about this "Rumor" until it showed up on r/manga from a Cruncyroll article this morning.

Oda definitely deserves the kindest of treatment since he works hard for us, fans. Unlike someone, *cough x cough* who can't even disclose the exact illness and information about what he's going through. More power to Oda!

The day One Piece goes monthly is the day the anime starts taking 1 year breaks...unless the folks working on Naruto help out with One Piece because they are the one of the filler gods. Laughing

I doubt it. Oda's been taking a lot of breaks like that since Dressrosa started, which was way before the movie was announced. I think the breaks are mostly for health reasons since he works constantly and almost never gets any rest.

Movie is likely already finished if it's a month away and even if it wasn't completely done, Oda's job is minimal at this point in production, so that's likely not the cause.

One Piece is already synonymous for Weekly Shōnen Jump. Even the thought that it might be moved to a different magazine under the Shueisha name is ludicrous.

But he did. He said it every week. And then Shueisha confirmed it.

This. He pretty much talked about it every single week. But people still think that they have the right to call him whatever they want.

First time I've heard about this rumor. People overreacting, Oda takes these one week breaks so that the editors are making sure they DON'T get another Hiatus x Hiatus. Wouldn't you want to protect your investments as much as possible, even if it might inconvenience some people in the short term? I've gotten used to getting these breaks here and there, as long as Oda can be effective and not land himself in the hospital like the last time, plus not give us a three to four week delay, then I'm very cool with it. It'd be a crying shame to invest almost fifteen years of my life on a great manga series and then not being able to find out what happens in the end because the author has to take a prolonged hiatus, or much worse.
