As long as the characters don't try to act cool and hip with the times (A.K.A. trying to be Poochie), plus no crappy CGI, then this can be good.[/img]

I'd ask why, but the Pokemanz are suddenly popular again thanks to the smartphone so I guess it's time to strike while the iron is hot again.

Has there ever been any live action adaptations of Pokemon, even in Japan? I'd ask why, but I know how much money even bad live action children's movies can make when they have international appeal.

Nope. The most close for that will be a Youkai Watch live-action sequences.

...Hoo boy. Alright then, pros? Cons?

We seem to be moving beyond Tom and Jerry cartoon violence and traditional digital templates on Cartoon Network shows. Full-blown clunkers like Beowolf can continue to haunt our nightmares. CG can be pretty neat as long as the creators keep a seat at the table on the production process. I actually thought Warcraft was an accessable entry and have to believe that the Pokemon company has as much clout as Blizzard. Could this actually, possibly not suck as hard in the adaptation climate we're in?

Then again, are we still stuck in the mindset that this thing is 'for kids', a 'big-budget cash grab', or potentially localized husk? These are all questions from an outsider because I started with Yokai Watch, but I know the community always worries whenever on of the projects is announced. I'm not very optomistic by nature, but maaayyybbbeeee...*crazy face*...do we hope?

Well...If the computer graphics are good and the film won't consist of any of that "faux hip-hop" jargon, I may give it a look...

I'm going to become deeply worried if Sony gets the rights for the Pokémon movie.
They have been making bad decisions for years (from the fake David Manning reviews to the disastrous marketing for the new Ghostbusters movie).

The David Manning thing is old news though and really the marketing for Ghostbuster's is nowhere near as bad as people have been making it out to be especially when most of the criticism is people whining about Hollywood pissing on their childhood while the other half is complaining about it's all female cast.

Normally when things like this happen, I just wait till the actual movie itself comes out to truly judge its worth, but I honestly can not see it ending well in this case. No offense to Legendary, Sony, or anyone else going for this project, but I think the entire idea of an actual live-action pokemon movie is insanely dumb. The whole focal point of pokemon is the pocket monster themselves, not the people. And I seriously can not see this working out well in any direction they choose to take it in. So to whoever gets the rights, HEAVEN HELP US ALL IF THEY DO, I think they should be prepared to go bankrupt or suffer from some major backlash. -__-;

Is the why the main character of the anime, mangas, & video games have human main characters?

I don't think this movie is going to bankrupt Legendary as for backlash when has potential backlash from fans ever stopped a movie studio from moving forward on adapting an existing work into movie?

Unfortunately, there are still people who either aren't willing to appreciate any kind of animation as an art form or don't appreciate animation as much as they appreciate live-action screen productions. That's why live-action screen versions of animated stuff still exist, just like there are live-action screen versions of comic book superheroes because some people don't appreciate comics as union of art and literature.
