$1500 for a signed canvas by Alpha is absurd. I picked up hand drawn sketches from her several years ago when she was at Anime Expo for less than $100. Certain companies seem to think that, if Clannad was able to sell an original sketch for $7K, $1.5K for a signed print is reasonable. Yeah no. This KS is running during convention season, not to mention the Kodomo no Jikan KS which offered a lovely original sketch for only $250 more than the canvas asking price, ended less than 2 weeks ago. People are getting (or are) tapped out. That's why the signed canvas tier isn't going anywhere.

Good visual novel, however those are unrealistic goals for the property in question. Especially when the basic goal doesn't include the fandisc.

Article might make the situation seem hopeful stating it's in the same league as Clannad or Muvluv and that there's a lot of buzz about it. It is not. Those are mainly because it's among the scarce collection of major visual novels(it and its fandisc) that have once previously been fan-translated. The campaign will fail.

And this is coming from someone who loves visual novels, and who's probably backed the majority of such projects on kickstarter etc...

I agree that Sharin no Kuni is in the Top 10 most popular VN worldwide. Based on what I found, Sharin no Kuni has the most number of voters in Erogamescape and is in the top 10 for most number of VNDB users. Moreover in both sites it has one of the highest scores.

The top 10 VN should be (1st place is at the top, the rest is not in order):
Fate stay night
Clannad
Grisaia no kajitsu
Muv luv alternative
Little busters
Maji koi
Tsukihime
G-senjou no maou
Saya no uta
Sharin no Kuni

These are the only ones that have VNDB popularity above 50% of 1st rank with score of above 8.0 by at least 3000 votes, and Erogamescape mean and median scores above 80 by at least 2,000 votes.

I'm considering backing this as the game sounds really interesting. Why are so many comments regarding this Kickstarter negative?

Also ... Can't resist the snide comment - sure as heck didn't see any "Ads" for the Kodomo no Jikan Kickstarter, but we still reached stretch goals and were the most backed graphic novel on Kickstarter, so Razz
