Well they sure have enough material i believe there are around 100chapters of this out though dunno how good this is since about shogi which is a jpn game and rest of us have no clue about it but from the summary i expect a good SOL setting so will judge it once the 1st episode and more comes out. Kinda avoiding the manga for now because i didn't wanted to spoil myself^^

sorry, i don't have any interest in this series, but just from seeing the headlines, i was wondering if anyone else is annoyed by the title? the japanese title looks like it just says "March's Lion", so why did the translated one have to change it into some light novel-lookin bs

i can't read much more japanese though so i could be missing a nuance

Well cool! Looking forward to it. 22 is an unusual length for something that's not on Noitamina.

The article has a typo; two "haves" don't make a whole. Twisted Evil *Badum tsh*

Quote:
The story of the March comes in like a lion manga follows a solitary shōgi player named Rei and his relationships with a neighboring family. He becomes acquainted with Akari, and two young girls, Hinata and Momo, who also have have a large number of cats.

There is no good ending point in the manga one could acerate too and a gecko ending won´t work with the slow built to the Vol.10/11 developments. I thus hope for a 2 part adaptation, not that Shaft is famous for messing up anyway.
Another positive takeaway is that YA magazine finally commissioned a modern anime with production values and a "real" run time. About time.

I'm so glad there will be 22 episodes! For Honey & Clover (by same author), season 1 was 22 episodes, and then there was a second 12 episode season to finish it off. I hope we get the same treatment here! Shaft is known to be a completist, and this is a very high-profile, award-winning manga so I think the investment would pay off to give us the whole of it. I loved what little of this manga was scanlated, so can't wait for the anime and live action film series.

"March comes in like a lion" is a proverb:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weather_lore#Lion_and_Lamb

But you are correct, the literal translation of Sangatsu no Lion is "March's Lion." "March comes in like a lion" is the official English title of the series though, it's listed on all the volume covers.

I was interested in this show until I found out that SHAFT is doing it. They haven't made anything decent since SZS so it's hard to have faith in them doing this one justice.

Huh? Monogatari series and Madoka not awesome enough? To me Shaft is on par with other awesome studio like Kyoani, P.A.Works, Production I.G and many more. At least this one wont be bad like Toei's products.

Guessing you haven't been watching their other more latest work. Shaft is a great studio.

^I think it's fair to say that they probably just have really unusual taste.

This looks like 1 of the series I will be watching this season. This is what Shikamaru Nara would watch (it being about shogi).

Oh boy, here we go.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei lasted a total of 3 years, but let's assume you meant 2007.

We have:

EF: A tale of memories and the sequel - I have no idea how good they are but they are both rated above an 8 on MAL so I assume they are okay.

Maria Holic - 2 seasons both rated around 7 from what I know they are comedy and pretty specific in terms of their taste. Probably go in the 'meh' category.

Natsu no Arashi! - pretty much the same kinda ratings as Maria Holic, Also fits into 'meh'/

Monogatari series - Amazing anime, the worst season was probably the most recent one and it was clear they were funneling money into Kizumonogatari so Owarimonogatari suffered heavily.

Dance in the Vampire Bund - I found it kinda dull from what I've watched of it. Rated a low 7 so not very good at all.

Arakawa under the Bridge - Really great series imo, love the comedy though I know some people dislike it but if you liked SZS you would probably like this too,

Soredemo machi wa mawatteriu - No opinion on it, haven't seen it and it's rated 7.5 so probably just okay/good.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Despite being a Shaft fan I still haven't seen it, lots of people like it though. Lots of controversy around it I guess, at the very least aesthetically it's great.

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko - Enjoyable if strange series imo, depends on your tastes.

Sasami-san@Ganbaranai - Nice animation but a lacking story and characters, not very good imo.

Nisekoi - First season was pretty damn good as far as generic harems go, the second had noticeable dips in quality.

Mekaku City Actors - A clusterfuck from start to finish.

Kofuku Graffiti - Never watched it, looked nicely animated at least but not my kinda show.

Oh, looks like they've remained fairly consistent in terms of their quality with a few dips here and there along with a few peaks. Probably about the same as any other big studio with their main franchises.

You can show yourself out.
