Well, you gotta give 'em credit for trying everything. I really like WUG!, but I've never had a sense of whether the franchise is barely keeping its head above water or if it's actually successful. Clearly it's well behind Love Live! and The Idolm@ster in popularity, but is doing a stage play a big step forward or an act of desperation? At least live on stage, they won't be hobbled by the animation problems of that first anime season.

A stage performance about an anime about a stage performance! Genius!
Seriously, though, that could be more in their favor if the cast they choose are talented.

My initial reaction: "Oh thank the heavens they're still together and doing things."
After the movies, I haven't heard of them making many appearances together. Plus, it seemed like Nanamin had the most voice acting roles in the group, so I thought she might slowly drift away or be too busy to do anything for WUG.
I'm really glad I was wrong.

Minami Tanaka has been in a few really good roles as of late and looks so cute in that shot. It's also a great idea to have the anime cast in the stage play, it's perfect.

I have this exact problem. This strikes me as an act of desperation, but I don't know. People said the TV series was a horrible flop, but the BD sales were decent, so I got the sense that was just over-reacting. They really have been trying nearly everything though. I applaud them for that.
WUG is my favorite idol series, it kind of sucks that it's not more popular, but I'm at least thrilled that Sentai is releasing it. I hope we get the sequel movies.
Also, yeah, these girls look super cute in real life. The anime character design didn't do them justice at all.

This and this... Though if you keep an eye on Youtube, tribute bands and cosplay videos keep popping up, so clearly *somebody* like them.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a second season.

Yeah, this guy. We called him "Superfan-san" when the first season was airing:
