What an absolutely horrifying combination. Definitely want no part of whatever they come up with.

He's going to direct March comes in like a lion, I don't think so. I guess he really is just a collaboration-partner.

Interesting. Sounds like there's a push going on for more anime series based on the works of Reki Kawahara, written by Ichiro Okouchi, or directed by Akiyuki Simbo.

They obviously aren't working on some single series. They're looking for more animes out of those individuals in general. They want to adapt more of Kawahara's work, want Okouchi to write more series, and want Simbo directing more anime series. They don't necessarily want those three working together. EGG FIRM has simply seen them produce respectable successes, and is hoping for some repeats.

It would be nice if this collaboration led to a sequel for Madoka Magica Rebellion.

Which is still a little annoying, to be honest. They all make work that sells well, which is exactly what this firm wants, no surprise, but out of the three, the only one that has made anything that I would consider to have artistic value is Shinbo. Okouchi is not a very good screenwriter, and Kawahara is a horrible author. They know how to get Otaku excited, but their work always leaves me cold. I love Araki, but Kabaneri and Guilty Crown are definitely his worst stuff, and it's because of Okouchi. I'd rather they focus on finding guys who can get the Otaku excited and produce something with artistic merit. Or at least something with competent writing. There are plenty of people more capable than those two.

A lot of wrong things with that comment: 1) that's like... just your opinion man, 2) Guilty Crown was good, 3)if they're focusing on stuff that appeals to the Otaku, why does SAO appeal TO EVERYBODY? 4)you left out Accel World, awesome light novel/anime made by Kawahara
can't wait to see what will Kawahara do with Accel World anime now, he pretty much has no excuses now, he knows that people want a 2nd season so JUST DO IT!

I did state everything I said as my opinion from the beginning, so there's that. I am not denying the entertainment potential of most of their works, I am denying the artistic importance of it. Which is okay. Not everything needs to be important artistically and I can enjoy a competently written blockbuster with little substance as much as the next guy(Code Geass is great!), but I have a hard time when they are incompetently written. Okouchi and Kawahara are not good writers. Sure, that's my opinion, or whatever, but ask literally any other professional critic, and they will tell you the same.
