I am a bit curious about why I seldom see any of the top ten rated TV series on the DVD sales charts. This chart does have One Piece, which is what made me think of this, but I do not know if that is the TV series or a special.

Do the popular family-friendly TV anime not get home video releases?
Or do they just not sell enough to make the charts?

Some of them don't get releases, but for the most part home video is for otaku. Mainstream anime makes its money through ratings and merchandise and don't rely on DVD sales.

Thank you, Guile.

I suspected that it was something like that.

Just how bad has Netoge no Yome been in sales so far? That "Anime DVD/BD Sales in Japan" site lists that it has sold 2640 units so far which gave it $184,977 in sales. I am curious how much in royalties the LN author got from that.
