As expected, Matt is voiced by Vic. Not a bad choice in my opinion. Now it's Sora and Tai, I believe. Crossing my fingers that both get their original VAs.

My thoughts too, but yeah, kinda weird its only a cast of 2 this week, and hoping this isn't gonna be like this until its release in theaters (both Tai and Sora), but its (possibly) more than likely.

I had heard the rumors, but I'm really surprised to hear Vic Mignogna is doing Matt - it sounded like just a rumor. Let me be clear that I don't have a problem with Mignogna, but isn't his voice, tone-wise, kinda the complete opposite of Michael Reisz? He's sounded pretty much the same in everything I've heard him in - has anyone else heard him do a deeper-voiced role?

It's not that it would be terribly unsuiting, but Matt was kinda known for his deep voice, in both the dub and original Japanese.

Well given Colleen O'Shaughnessy's hint, if feels almost certain she will be returning as Sora. That hint wouldn't make sense unless she was cast a different, which itself wouldn't make much sense, but they did cast Doug Erholtz for a different role. Yet her tease, and several tweets have been promoting, making it seem that she is in the film in a major way and there isn't really any major characters for her to voice.

Joshua Seth is the unknown still, with biggest hurdle being that he isn't a voice actor anymore. While his tweets makes it evident he wants to return, it's unknown if he is actively persuading it or if the production crew are actively trying to get him to do it. While most of the recasting seem reasonably, except Erholtz (whom I am convince was cast as intentional irony or for him to respect to one of the earlier animes he did), there must require effort on both parties for him to come back. With that said, I haven't heard anyone else being position to play Tai for tri. While Matt, Sand, and Bosch being listed on Wikipedia before they were officially announce, with other cites hinting/unofficial confirming them, there hasn't been any body who has been announce for Tai (at least from what I can gather). I'm curious who would they recast? Would they stick Jason Spisak from the movie, or someone else?

Vic voiced Rin from Free and he used a more mellow, deep tone for him. I actually thought it was one of his best roles. He also voiced this ninja trainer in Pokemon XYZ, and his voice was so deep that my friends watching with me didn't recognize him. Heck, I didn't recognize him until I really listened to the way he said some words, it was that deep.

If anything, I can see Vic using the same voice he used for Rin for Matt. On a fun note, I have a strong feeling they chose Vic because he can actually sing which ties into Matt having a band and all.

Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan from the DBZ movies is the most extreme example. He's also played Qrow from RWBY who had a gruff voice. Those two are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head, but Vic CAN do deep voices. He just doesn't do them very often.

I Don't have an issue with Vic, but now when I hear Matt's Voice, I'm gonna be hearing edward elric all the time, but I guess that the down side when most of the Original VAs don't even Voice act anymore. Crying or Very sad

I'm on the fence about watching, Joshua Seth is what I'm using as the deciding factor.

I'm on the same boat, even though I do want these movies to succeed. I grew up with Adventure 02 and Tamers, but I still want to support this. It is just I do not have personal feelings towards the original cast, despite being prominent in 02. Tai's casting will be the deciding factor for me too, yet even if they get Joshua back there is no guarantee he would even do a good job.

Same here. While I am really sad about Matt's new actor, I'm still holding out hope for Seth to come back. Tai just wouldn't be the same with any other actor. Anime cry

Sad they couldn't get Michael Reisz back as Matt. Wonder why they didn't cast Dave Wittenberg as Michael also voiced Takuya and Dave took over for him in the Frontier movie.

Todd Haberkorn has said he's recorded for Tri so maybe he's Tai. Hope not. Hope it's Joshua.

I've made an account just to show my displeasure of Vic's casting. I would literally take anyone else but him in the world. I'm fed up with him ruining characters potential with his one dimensional voice

You know they asked everyone to return and if they aren't, it's because they said No! That's why I think Joshua Seth will come back as TaI because he even said he would return if asked. I think they would be have been crazy not to ask him to come backm
