Maiden Japan also licensed the Patlabor anime TV series, but it looks like the Blu-ray and DVD sets are already going OOP.

Uh yeah, I love Patlabor, but I wouldn't pay that much for a short. I'm not sure I would pay that much for a full length movie, unless Oshii did it.

Patlabor, as I am sure we will agree, can retain its sheen for hours through its character dynamics alone. That only ten minutes are being allocated to this is a disappointment. Gundam Unicorn successfully resonated with older franchise fans, and I would like to think that a more ambitious project would have been possible here as well.

Without Goto or Noa it's hard for me to care about any of these new Patlabor stories.

Wait, is this true? When did that happen? I thought Sentai only picked that up a couple of years ago. I'd thought about buying it myself, since I've always heard nothing but high praise for Patlabor, but it was released in way too many sets that were too pricey individually for my tastes. (Kind of a problem with Sentai in general: budget complete sets from them are all but nonexistent.) Guess that's something I'm not owning then.

No, it's not true. There's absolutely no evidence any of the discs are out of print.

Right Stuf lists TV series Blu-ray set 2 as OOP. Still available from Amazon.com, though.

I guess it's not that popular enough to do more than 10 minute shot.
Frankly given how well stuff is CGLed lately, i won't want them wrecking Patlabor with low-budget computer generated graphics.
