Not even surprised considering considering there was a rumor about the show being 24 episodes awhile ago.

Uh, I'll watch it but my expectations aren't high so far unless they adapt attempt to adapt the series more faithfully.

Was expecting that. The last half has definitely been much better.

People were too pissed with the animators in the beggining for not only giving this series terrible animation but skipped both the blackswordsmen arc and lost children arc. Understandable but if u stick around until after ep 3 and look at it as an adaption of the conviction arc...it is actually good.

Now lets see if the The Holy Evil War Chapter of the Falcon
Millennium arc would be any better.

Awesome! With how much more enjoyable the latter half of this season has been than the first half, I was worried they wouldn't take advantage of that momentum at all and I'd just be left wanting more Berserk but not gettin' any.

The announcement doesn´t state the format, so the producers could just regurgitate whatever the last 2 studios had stuffed away in a random OVA project and call it a day. I won´t watch another season long show, if the pilot will be as bad as the last batch. 2 out of 12 episodes were tolerable, none were good and at least 2 were 100% unwatchable. I certainly now learned my lesson, never again. Liden Films´s bipolar Terra Formars adaptation now looks like masterpiece by comparison...

A weaker man may now decide to hold the overall superior films in "higher regard", but i won´t. None of these success-less disasters deserve to exist as standalone products and a PS3 based Musou game now appears to be the most promising adaptation since 04´s PS2 game. May future producers be kinder on us, after all this mess will be allowed to fade away. An American adaptation would frankly be of higher interest to me than another Japanese one. That´s what this crap has to be in the end. Crazy cheap sizzle reel fodder for international inverters.

I didn't think they'd bother animating more, but I should've known better really. At least the people who've never read the manga get to experience the next arc, and it should be fun seeing what newcomers think of it.

@residentgrigo Unless the arc can be plausibly done in an ova, I can't imagine they mean anything else but an additional season. And for anime only viewers, this adaptation very much deserves to exist, imperfect as it is. I can't say I appreciate speaking as if not releasing it would have been better for everyone. It's fine if you don't want to watch it. Just don't say that depriving anime viewers access to it is the only proper course. Cause if the past twenty years is precedent, no (further) adaptation is the far greater possibility than an adaptation that fully satisfies manga readers.

@zrnzle500 The 97 show and the first 2 games fully satisfied me. A low budget Toei adaptation, where they just go page by page, would have satisfied me. Motion comics would have satisfied me. Even well produced manga ads would have satisfied me.
NO successfully comic deserves what went on with the adaptations since 2012. What Berserk continues to get here is one of the poorest adaptation of this decade, regardless of the medium.
An anime only viewer would frankly get a better idea what the manga is about by reading wiki summaries!
I can laugh at crap as Frank Miller´s The Spirit, what is allowed to continue to happen here though is just sad for the industry as a whole.

That is so awesome! I was worried it wasn't going to get 2 cours. This has been one of my favorite shows this season. I cannot wait for more Berserk!

I hope Funimation is able to do a broadcast dub for the next part.

Guess that was to be expected. I really don't like this adaption, but I do like making stupid CLANG videos so I guess I'm still satisfied... more or less...

I really hope they find a new director. As much as I disliked the 3D this season, the camera shots were by far the most appalling factor this season. But hey...it's still Berserk. Just don't expect me to buy it, I'd rather spend that money on finishing up my manga collection-once Dark Horse actually starts reprinting it anyhow.

I never said the 97 anime didn't. Rather I was referring to what was made after. Personally I am not interested in playing game adaptations but others may be. Other manga readers here and in the review thread, while reasonably disappointed, at least give the impression that it is not so horrible an adaptation that no (anime) adaptation is better, though you are hardly alone in the sentiment, though less so recently. And frankly a low budget Toei adaptation or motion comics would not have been better in my eyes but I am more tolerant of CG than you at least. Poor animation is poor no matter the method and different poor animation would make the show no better other than for those with CG allergies.

Great news. The new Berserk anime really picked up in the later episodes, loving it right now. Hopefully they'll improve on the animation aswell. I'll definitely buy the English release. Heck, I'd buy the Japanese release on cdjapan if it had English subtitles.

I'm glad to hear they're doing more. I'd have preferred traditional animation, and I'm bothered by all the nipple-less breasts... but I'm still enjoying it a lot.

I would not be surprised if they added nipples in the bluray release. Might be some sort of censoring issue why they don't have them in the broadcast.
