Good I love Red Sprite and The Promised Neverland....I didn't want to lose either of them. the promised Neverland I can see it mostly as a 12 volume series though but each chapter just draws me in., it just reminds me of a cat and mouse manga like death note but less shonen. As for Red Sprite I'm unsure right now how many volumes I can see this as it just began but I'm interested in what this will turn into.

I stopped reading the Red Sprite after the 2nd chapter. It didn't have the draw that The Promised Neverland had. And Love Rush! is simply a replacement for Nisekoi because you can't have shonen without romance.

Good to see Love Rush included I liked it and Red Sprite is also another worthy addition. Romantic Comedy has been lacking in Jump I did not care much for Nisekoi though.

First time since the beginning of the Jump Starts that they could add all the series in the round... it's interesting to have ESJ this much closer to the Japanese version, but neither of these manga interest me. Yamamoto's work isn't awful, at least for what it is (these monster girls don't interest me though), but Yagi seems so much less skilled than other Jump mangaka with similar amounts of experience.
I'm enjoying Neverland though. Lots of neat twists. The final two pages of today's chapter definitely show what Posuka is best at drawing. |

RED SPRITE has plenty of promise - that first chapter moved its plot like gangbusters while teasing future stories with skill - and PROMISED NEVERLAND brings that unpredictable edge you rarely see in WSJ series. DEATH NOTE comes to mind first when I think of another series to which I'd compare it.
The other series... Ugh. I'll say this: it shouldn't survive for long. It hasn't yet reached NISEKOI - levels of banality and storytelling ineptitude. Those are positive traits, right? |

Yay! I haven't checked out Red Sprite yet, but I did enjoy Love Rush and was worried it wouldn't get added. Happily surprised to see all 3 recent jump starts added. Always nice to get more content =)

Red Sprite - Oh, cool I guess. Not a great series but not a bad one at all either.
Love Rush - Lets hope it gets canned as fast as E-Robot did. |

Love Rush did nothing for me, but I'm not exactly disappointed because I expected nothing of it. Still, some people seem to enjoy it, so...? (I'm expecting it to end within three volumes at the most).
I read the first two chapters of The Promised Neverland, and overall I'm impressed with it. It has the most potential of any of these series, and could eventually become a small-time hit (if not more). The only way it could falter is if it rides the "edgy shonen" wave too closely and loses its originality (it already has trappings reminiscent of other series, such as the "stuck behind walls for your own good and oppressed by [insert monster]" premise of both AoT and, initially, OnS). |

The hate is strong with this one. At least can I know why E-Robot failed, or it's just the typical "I dont like it, so its the worse" commentary?
I would be not surprised if it becomes a shounen fighting series, because that doesn't mean the series will be instantly awful, except for people with high expectations. And clearly that twist in AOT didn't kill its quality or popularity. Just made some people stay away from it. |

I can see how you would easily misinterpret my comment. No, I don't like it, and by my objective analysis of its content I expect it to perform poorly. However, I tried to acknowledge that there are people that indeed like it, and there's nothing wrong with that. E-Robot, like every other series to drop out of Jump, failed because it did poorly in the surveys. Most of the magazine's readers didn't like it enough to keep it around, even if it had fans.
Again, I never meant to say that it made AoT bad. I'm a huge Attack on Titan fan. But a series within a genre can only be good if it either A. Presents its own originality or B. Mimicks other successful stories within the genre with excellence. A poor copy will quickly die, and at this point we really can't say how The Promised Neverland will turn out. |

I'll bet that all three of them made the cut because Viz needed something to fill in the gap left by Nisekoi and Bleach ending with Toriko rocketing towards its conclusion.
There's also how Love Rush! is coming across as a Monster Musume ripoff to me, only the ladies aren't as narratively well-rounded as characters. The author has a way of throwing fanservice while trying to look innocent about it too, which is weird. I think what bugs me the most is that it also feels like the author is trying E-Robot again, only with different characters. It's as if he can only write one kind of story. |
