So, does anyone else get the feeling that they'll announce a third season of the anime during the end credits? I hope they do. Also, how come they didn't mention Suguha/Leafa? She is in the movie, isn't she?

That's what they did for Season 2, with the Extra Edition, so yeah, I think they'll announce Season 3 during the end credits.

If true, that means a US theater run should be March or April.

I wonder how they would even do a season 3. They can't adapt the whole next arc in 2 cours. The best spot to split it would also be a huge cliffhanger.

4 cour seasons are a thing. And seeing as they already plan to animate season 3, even if they have a cliffhanger at a split, it's not a big deal.

An extremely rare thing, and also has there ever been a LN adaptation that got one? Because I can't think of any.

I expect a announcement at the end of the movie.

There are enough material for 2 more seasons of 24-26 episodes each, if they keep the kind of pace they used in the previous 2 seasons.

Shakugan no Shana had three full seasons, one film, and a four OVA series.

This new Sword Art Online movies looks great, hopefully it pans out that way in real life.

I'm also hoping for an announcement of Season 3 at the end of this movie.

I really enjoyed the Alicization arc in the novels, even more so than Aincrad.

Yeah but that wasn't 4 cour. $ cour would mean that it would continue non stop for 4 seasons straight. Familiar of Zero had breaks between each season with Seasons 1-3 being separated by 9 months each, to season 4 being almost 4 years after Season 3. The same goes for Shana.

Rushed and poorly cause they know it'd make some form of easy money regardless would be my bet.

I was referring to 4 cour seasons, not having 3 (or more) seasons. I can't think of a LN adaptation that had more than 2 cours. Most have 1. ZnT which you mentioned may have had 4 seasons, but each was only 1 cour.
