This is like Hobby Japan is making an idol version of Queen's Blade without the fetishistic fanservice. But seriously, this anime has some big names in the character design department. I am looking forward to see the other half's designs.

Other than having different artist illustrating different character design, how is this any different from Wake Up, Girls!?

or any difference from Love Live? (respective voice actresses performing as idols in the real world.)

My thoughts exactly. However, they said they'll be going through some rounds of elimination in December. I wish I could see that, but then again, what really worries me is that there are several different artists working on the same anime. I really hope this isn't a case of "too many cooks spoils the meal" because I could see a clash in personality. I mean there are already 3 (or 2) rich girls introduced into the idol group (or competition).

Namco did this over a decade ago, now it's everywhere.
Oh wait, it's sponsored by Aniplex.

I thought with different artists there'd be some variety, instead they seem very lackluster and surprisingly similar.

This is much more like Kancolle. Multiple illustrations done by various artist but the anime adaptation will stick to one art style

Koyama's sameface is worst than Takeuchi's, jesus. At least Takeuchi can draw 2 female faces and 2 male faces.
