If I wanted to see character development from a show like Speed Racer, I'd just get someone to do fanfiction for it, not a movie! Character development's why horror's dead.

Character development is fine and all,but don't forget that racing is what makes Speed Racer what it is.
I for one can hardly wait to see what the Mach 5 will be like. |

Heh, I may not like car racing movies, and I HATE Nascar, but if Johnny Depp was to pop up in that one version that almost made it they would of had me going to see the movie at least twice in theaters.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, didn't a Japanese car company /manufacturer make a REAL mach 5, as I seem to remember seeing it in a magazine like Beckett Anime Insider or on TV.

Acutally, they're American. Officially licensed and sold by a company called Speed Racer Autoworks, LLC. Better yet they put 100 of them up for sale (for the small price of about $.6 million). Emerje |

 As long as Ben Stiller is Speed Racer, I'M IN!!! That would be the greatest anime-to-live action movie ever made!!! And what the hell, how about Owen Wilson as Sparky, the mechanic, and Dom Deluise as Pops! Oh man, I'm getting myself too excited, I'd better take my pills, and 50 cc's of ZOOLANDER STAT!

I highly doubt that this will be a parody movie. Judging by the article, it sounds like Vaugn really wants this to be a serious movie about the relationship between Speed Racer and his long-lost brother. Then again, this is from the actor who appeared in the big-screen spoof of Starsky and Hutch. |

Vince Vaughn could actually make this into a fine movie, he's done some great acting in comedies AND drama so I will give it a chance, besides, Speed Racer is probably only one of the many anime movies that could make a decent live action American movie. Aside from Lupin, I'd love to see a Lupin movie.

They better have Big Black's song about Racer-X in it. Not that I think Steve Albini would allow his music to appear in a Hollywood blockbuster, but it would still be pretty sweet.

I am wondering about the licensing. Who owned Speed Racer exactly? The last time I checked Tatsunoko owns the anime series. Don't they have to get a green light from Tatsunoko?
