Didn't even realize Diamond still used its book division, they haven't updated their website since fall 2004.

Still good to hear though, Last time I checked the only place in town that sold Hirameki interactive DVDs was Sam goody, and they only had 1 copy of Day of Love... as far as I know that's all they have ever had.... I also like these, mainly because I'm too young to get the H-titles..... but also because if I feel like playing it on the comp, I can play it on the comp, but if I feel like playing it on a DVD player with suround sound and a big screen TV... I can do that too ^^

Funny how once again, the term 'dating sim' is used to refer to just about every type of bishojo game on the planet, especially the Visual Novel... which is what these 'choose-your-own-story' games amount to Rolling Eyes

I have two Hirameki Fans I got from Otakon last year hanging in my room. I always wanted to try one of these, and seems like a moderately decent way to burn a good 10+ hours away.

I just hope they'll stay on the shelfs long enough for me to nab a few. =P

If you play one of Hirameki's better visual novels, you'll be playing far more than 10 hrs. For PoI(Phantom of Inferno), and HoS(Hourglass of Summer), it took me at least 30hrs a piece. 45 hrs if you count the time i took to get all of the endings.

You'd have a higher chance finding it at a Media Play, if you know where one is. I've seen several Media Plays that have them in stock, and unfortunately no one is buying them, so they'll probably be there for months on end.

I'd also like to say that most of them are total crap. There are only 2 visual novels that are extremely good, and that's PoI and HoS. I highly recommend starting there, when and if you ever decide to try them out.

Day of Love was ok. It was very much on the visual novel side of things though. My contributions to the plot were pretty minimal in my mind. The art was very nice though. Is there any talk of a cheaper price point? Some re-issues at bargain prices would seem to be a good hook to get people to try them. I have only ever seen these games at Suncoast.

Oh this is all just to perfect for me! Smile

For the last couple of days, I have been talking to Hirameki via series of emails. Originally, I was wondering why their Anime Play Magazine ended at issue #6 without signs of new issues, and also I was wondering why they have been quiet for nearly a year (their website's last update was February 2004 at the time of typing this). I'll just copy & paste my emails to them. I have actually stumbled upon something new that should make everyone happy. Read on...

SSJ3Brian:

"Hello everybody at Akiba Otaku. Now I know your company has ties with
Hirameki International, and it seems that their support email address,
[email protected] , cannot receive emails whatsoever
("permanent fatal errors" on "k.tsutsumi"'s behalf) so I figured I may
as well email Akiba Otaku with my questions. I was merely
wondering....does Hirameki have plans on bringing over more of those
fantastic interactive DVD games such as Hourglass of Summer
domestically? I just had so much fun playing Hourglass of Summer that I
wanted more of these kind of games!

Also...

I noticed on www.hirameki-int.com that the latest piece of news was on
February 2004, and their Anime Play DVD-magazine abruptly stopped at
only the 6th issue, which leads me, and many, many of the company's
fans to believe that the company has ultimately gone bankrupt. If you
are permitted to comment on this, it would make everyone out there feel
better knowing the truth on why there hasn't been anything coming from
Hirameki for more than a year. Thank you very much for your time, and
please don't forget to reply!
"

Akiba Otaku/Hirameki International:

"Dear Brian,

Thank you for you inquiry.
We are currently in the process of updating our hirameki website.
It should be up and ready sometime next month.
Please look forward to our new website.

As for new titles, we are in the process of releasing more.
Once our new website is up, please check back for updates.
One title to look forward to is Aiyori Aoshi.

As for our DVD-magazines, we have temporarily put a stop to them.
Once our decision has been made, we will inform everyone on our website.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused.
We hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

SSJ3Brian:

"I do appreciate your response, and I am so very glad that Hirameki is not done for!

But I do have a question about your reply to my email. When you said:

"As for new titles, we are in the process of releasing more...
...One title to look forward to is Aiyori Aoshi."

Do you mean an Ai Yori Aoshi interactive anime DVD, soundtrack, etc. (because I thought Geneon had exclusive rights to anything related to the anime series)? Could you please be a little more specific on what exactly this Ai Yori Aoshi "title" is?

And when is this title going to come out?

Thank you very much for your time.
"

Akiba Otaku/Hirameki International:

"Dear Brian,

We can not give out that much information at this time,
but there will be a release sometime this summer.
We will be releasing more information at
anime expo
comic con
otakon
If you can not make any of these, our website should be updated shortly.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

As far as I know, there is not a single Ai Yori Aoshi interactive anime DVD game out in Japan (I searched for hours trying to find information about one). The second closest thing to a non-anime release is this Playstation 2 video game developed by "KID". If anyone can think of any form of Ai Yori Aoshi media that hasn't already been licensed by Geneon domestically (excluding the manga being released by Tokyopop), please reply on this topic right away with the title's exact name and platform.

Oh yeah, if you have been browsing the Aiyori Aoshi GameFAQs' board, you'll notice that this is a copy & paste from my topic yesterday evening. I'm just too excited! Very Happy
