same problems that hit relife and Alderamin. However, since the issues with relife have been fixed and the first four eps went up last night, hopefully that means the other two will follow very shortly

This is the strongest Broadcast Dub season yet, not just from the quantity of enjoyable shows but also from the quality of the dubs themselves. I'm not watching every Broadcast Dub (Simuldub?) this season, but the ones I AM watching have mostly been really good so far!

My favorite dub is Yuri!!! on Ice because the performances have been fantastic all around (seriously, this show cemented Josh Grelle as one of Funimation's best voice actors) and because it's such a great show in its own right. It's also the most popular and controversial of the current dubs, and I'm sure you can guess the controversial part: the accents. Yes, the accents are not perfect. It's the only detractor in an otherwise great dub, but when that's the ONLY thing anyone can talk about, it gets really annoying. It's realistic that the foreign characters would have accents, but the Japanese dub doesn't use accents at all. They all sound like they're from the same place, but that gets a pass because it's the original version. If Funimation did the same thing and didn't give the Russian characters accents, they wouldn't get a pass. They're basically forced to go the extra mile, but does it do them any good? Guess not. Sad
So yeah, screw you, tumblr. I'm not even watching the Japanese version; SO THERE! Twisted Evil

Anyway, I'm glad these Broadcast Dubs are being taken more seriously on ANN. Anyone watching these shows in Japanese should give the Broadcast Dubs a shot! Smile

Most of the dub reviews have a Wait and See attitude, but never follow up on them. I thought the coverage of the SimulDubs was going to be more complete this season.

Touken Ranbu is so good, though. I feel like I'm the only person watching it who didn't play the game, but I really love it. It's so sweet and heartwarming and warm and fluffy...

Seriously, give it a try. I promise you won't be lost or bored if you haven't played the game. It deserves more attention (at least from English fans - I think it's still pretty popular in Japan).

None of the good shows that are popular in Japan get popular in English (with the exception of Yuri On Ice). It makes me sort of sad...

I also liked Touken Ranbu, The opening alone is worth watching for ebing so upbeat and catchy.

The one issue I have with it is the large cast makes it very hard to keep up with who is who and their interpersonal relationships, I'm watching with the dub so I'm only 3 episodes in but there are already 20+ named cast members wandering around the base and I can only remember like...3 names, it doesn't help that most characters show up for a scene, get a named card and then nothing else of note so you can't remember their name unless you read it when it first shows up. At this point I'm just remembering them by VA, "Oh there's Tatum's character, and that's Clifford Chaplin, and there's Arron Roberts and Marcus Stimac, etc..."

Keijo's dub has surprisingly been pretty strong. Amber Lee Connors is great as Nozomi and its nice to hear Felicia Angelle in a more subdued role like Miyata since usually the characters she plays are a bit more animated in nature (Asuka in Senran Kagura, Coco in Fairy Tail, and Nozomi in Rolling Girls to name a few).
