This would have been great news for me 15 years ago, but now...nope.

Kurumada has spent way too much time fooling around with this property.

Kurumada does almost nothing for SS though, he only works on ND once in a while when his body allows him to, then he helps the spin-off writers and anyways he always seemed to enjoy his other manga more. Not to mention that he's sick now, his wrist is non existant anymore since he's been drawing manga since early 70's and he's old and sick now.

The rest is just Toei milking it or fanfic writers doing their goldwank spin-offs like Episode G, Lost Canvas or Saintia Sho now that can't stop jerking Milo off.

About what could this be, Saintia Sho or Episode G seem the most obvious options.

I doubt ND will get an anime now because Toei realized the franchise makes good money even with stuff like Omega or short things like Soul of Gold, so ND is basically their last hope if one day the spin-offs stop making money and they want to start the train again.

But maybe Toei doesn't have the rights for Next Dimension and other studio can do it like it happened to Lost Canvas, I don't know how it works with them and the franchise

I am not in favor of forcing sick old men to work, that would be inhumane, but I think he knew what risks were involved in making something like Next Dimension at his age.

He's had plenty of years of good health in the past and probably enough access to assistants over that same period of time, so a far less ambitious "final/extra chapter" would have been within his grasp. Not something that required him to be in good condition for over a decade. It might sound cruel, but Kurumada should have acted in accordance with his limits. Instead, ND might well end up going nowhere at this rate.

Alternatively, he should have done what Toriyama is doing with Dragon Ball Super and the manga version of that. Focus on writing scripts or giving ideas and letting someone else be responsible for the drawings.

In terms of the animated projects, he shouldn't have gotten into a fight with Yamauchi, who seemed to be the only person who had a strong creative vision for the anime.

While it doesn't release as often as I would like, I've enjoyed what Next Dimension has been building up to and can't wait to see what follows it.

Kuru cares for his story a lot. If he didn't, we would have gotten Tenkai-Hen sequels out the wazoo. That would certainly make him more money than just an unanimated manga running in something a few tiers below Jump. Clearly he did so because he cares, and because he wants to see his creative vision move forward.

I wish more people would respect that. The man busts his ass despite his health for his passion and a lot of people give him crap for it (health reasons for delays be damned apparently). Maybe if Toei gives him more creative control in the writing and design, he might accept a "Dragon Ball Super" like solution, who knows what he'll announce.

I'd rather Saint Seiya go the way of Osamu Tezuka's Phoenix or Ken Ishikawa's Getter Robo and end incomplete than to just force some cheap resolution for the sake of resolution.

I want to see the proper Heaven chapter, but if nothing else, I'll settle for all the steps to it and let my imagination take me further if need be.

I'm sure he knew the risks but he wanted to do it anyway. If we go by that then the same could be said about hunter x hunter or berserk, Togashi and Miura should just end the series because people get pissy about the irregular schedule, and they have been working for half the time Kurmada has.

It doesn't work like that, these authors want to do their own thing and in the end it's their manga, if people want to follow it then fine otherwise I doubt they care that much it's not like any of them(well Togashi and Kurumada especially) need any kind of money, they just want to tell their stories even if a lot of people lose interest as long as there's a few that care.

Guess this means another anime is coming and considering that Soul of Gold is currently airing on Tokyo MX, we might be looking at another Sailor Moon Crystal TV situation where they'll rerun the show a second time this Winter and then premiere the new anime in that time slot this coming Spring.

Not necessarily - if anything it appears he was still in good health when he began ND, he was still making Ring ni Kakero 2 as the time which has a regular bimonthly Schedule. But everything seems to point that his health (meaning hand) issue came to a head when he was working on ND vol.2. He has however been rather regular in term of his manga work since them : basically producing what amount of two volumes of mangas per year. Except he's not just working on ND anymore, since he's also doing Otoko Zaka and other stuff. But I can't blame him for wanting to do other stuff beside just Saint Seiya.

And sure I guess he could do an approach similar to DBS and have someone else draw everything and just give a basic storyline, but that's really not how he works. The difference between Toriyama and Kurumada is that Kurumada is a mangaka to the core. Toriyama has been content in doing smaller projects since the end of Dragon Ball, and DB took such a toll on him he falt out said he'd never see himself doing a long big manga like this ever again. Kurumada though, his work is his life, he's never stopped drawing regular mangas in 40 years and he'll probably keep at it till he dies.

And to be fair I guess, the Tenkai-Hen film WAS Kurumada trying to do what Toriyama is doing now with the DBZ film and DBS, with him producing a story to serve as a legit sequel. The issue is that TOEI completly cut out Kurumada of the production process even though they were the ones insistant on doing a new film (Kurumada really wanted to finish Hades as anime) while at the same time putting ridiculous pressure and demands on Yamauchi and the staff of the film, resulting in a rushed film that barely used Kurumada's ideas and was a commercial failure. And when Kurumada came to ask for explanations, TOEI basically put all the blame on Yamauchi and sent him to the grinder.

There is little doubt than Next Dimension was born out of the frustration that was the production of the Tenkai-Hen... and this is probably why Kurumada won't be willing to let this specific story be told by anyone else, even though he's let both Omega and Episode G.A serves as sequels of sorts.

Keep in mind all these spin off projects have been approved by Kurumada. Neither TOEI nor Akita can make new StS without his approval (indeed some spin-off concepts even came directly from him) as he owns the right to it, and he's been very supportive of all this stuff and the other authors. Indeed, from the way Okada told the story leading to creating of Episode G.A, it sounds like it came to be because Kurumada was unhappy about Okada got screwed with G's ending and wanted his him to get back on more StS.

After that to each his own with all the spin off, both anime and manga, but I think there's enough for everyone to enjoy themselve.

My hope is for an animated feature for SS not a live action or stage play, hopefully one of the followings:

- Lost Canvas S3
- Next Dimension
- Soul of Gold S2
- Redo the Inferno and onward arcs with new animation use Omega seiyuu cast for the original Bronze Saints.

Of course as long as Tohru Furuya reprises his role as Seiya then i am good Very Happy

I just hope it isn't live action thing - I'm tired of those "important announcements"...

I marathoned all anime titles last year in order of release (even watched movies in between episodes they were shown in cinema at the time), and loved pretty much all of it.

Don't care about original manga, so even if it is anime original, I welcome it, because I love setting in general, although it would be great to see more Gold Saints.
